Title: Can't download plugins
Post by: edbro on November 05, 2004, 09:27:52 pm
I can't seem to download plugins from accessories.musicex.com. I can download the mjp files but when I try to apply them, it will not download the package. I keep getting errors saying the request has timed out, but I get it immediately. I have tried several different plugins and skins.

Check for update times out as well. The 14 day check just tried when I started and I get an almost immediate error.

^^ it doesn't work. "Failed to connect to a server." It's been that way for a couple of days for all plugins.

can you install it?  If you select "save target as" it will seem to download, but when you try to install, you wind up with the same error message re timing out.

I just clicked the link Bob gave and installed it directly from the network.

I use private LAN addresses with a NAT/firewall box and also a Kerio software firewall, which asked for permission. (XP SP1, the internal firewall is disabled.)

Same Problem. I do have a router.
I just downloaded the zip file directly, which the mjp file is trying to reference. That worked.

It worked for me from a mediacom network.

If it doesn't work for you, please tell us your Internet provider's name.

The problem is not the mjp file. It is the package it attempting to link to. So you can put the ip address in front of the mjp file but it still goes to the same accessories.musicex.com just as if I clicked on the mjp file from the plugins page.

I can download the mjp, in fact, I have it on my hard drive.  Is there an public ftp server that has the zip files on it so we can download the plugins directly? I didn't see them on ftp.jriver.com

It worked for me from a mediacom network.

If it doesn't work for you, please tell us your Internet provider's name.
No go from Comcast.net. Cable connection behind a router.

failed for me too.

King, do you connect via a router?

I do, and I'm wondering if the private ip address is getting in the way. It shouldn't do, but you never know....

 ?  ?

-marko.

yes i have a netgear router

It is the package it attempting to link to

right click on the mjr file, and save as

then open up the file

look at the url inside the mjr file

put it in a browser

download the file as save as

open up the mjr file, change the url to the file path of the downloaded plug-in

now click on the local mrj file it should see the plug-in package on your local drive and install it.

JimH has a how to file on this

If you can cut and paste the URL from the .mjp file to get it to work, the problem is not in the network or other possible routers or DNS. It looks like the processing of the URL by MC is not working somehow. It might be interesting to get the version numbers from people who have a problem and people who don't and lets say choose one plugin to download so we are all getting the same .mjp file.  I tried it with the thunderstorm-mini skin and it worked fine for me....

I did a test of my own

11.0.113 works
11.0.117 doesn't

I also tried earlier versions like 90, 111, 112, and those worked
