Title: How to find desyncronizated item?
Post by: Polonio on November 11, 2004, 12:57:08 pm
Eventually, information stored in file can desyncronizate from the information stored in MC library. I don't want to analyze now why this happens, but it happens.

How can I locate desyncronizated items?

Does MC calc and stores a checksum about tag information?

I think a checksum is easy to develop, and it can offer a great help to locate  desyncronizated elements (now or in the future). This seems to me as a basic feature. If it is present, it isn't visible in any way. Does exists?

Please explain what you mean by "desynchronized".

Desyncronization occurs when information stored in tags is not exactly the same than the information stored on MC library...

It can occur for many reason:

- MC is not able to open the file when saving tag changes (file locked, network unavailable, ...)
- Other applications or user actions can modify of even delete tag information (many programs can update MP3 tag information, many programs delete tag information stored on JPG files, user can restore a file backup...)
- A file can be modified by two MC instances (2 MClibraries)
- MC can crash before saving tag changes on disk

I have about 10000 file on MC library, How can I find the files affected for any of this situations?
