We're still working on Media Center 11. We appreciate your feedback on it, but MC11 may not work as expected and we can't yet fully support it. Some plugins still do not work.
We recommend that you use MC10 below, but if you want to use MC 11 while we're building it, PRICES are here:

When upgrading from MC 10, you will lose your view schemes.
Are there any plans to introduce some sort of view scheme migration tool in the future?
This is a big reason to stop me upgrading since I have lots of view schemes embedded in other view schemes etc - about 60 to 80 in all. It's seems very unusual to see a product upgrade that is not compatible with such a key part of the previous version.
-
I've been using MC for a lot of tagging. One of the things that I find I need the most is a
"Fill Property from Properties" option.
I do not like to change the filename with "Rename Filename from Properties" and then a "Fill Properties From Filename". When I need to combine a couple properties. When I do it this way, I lose punctuation sometimes (i.e. / :)
The program is getting awesome!

after buring an audio cd,and saying print cd label. get the following error

clicked ok and tried again and it worked ok

That's incorrect. View schemes are preserved from MC 10. Sorry about that.

Since the recent builds haven't been recognising my WAV files' duration, on a hunch I unticked the "ignore small files" box on Tools/Import Media and MC 11 has now found the files I've pointed it at. Very pleased!
The bad news is that neither the duration nor bitrate is shown.
But no doubt that will come...

When ripping a CD the image for the last track does not get updated.
If I go into image , quick find the image is found and updated fine.
-
Typing in library fields seems particularly slow.
In MC10 there was a registry hack for "LastSelectedOptionsPage". I loved this feature but there seems to be no equivalent in the new registry setp for MC11. Any plans to include one?
Thanks,

A side to side compare with data exported to Excel revealed that Excel and MC11 sort in a different way. One would imagine that sorting algorithms would be everywhere the same.
Sorting in MC11:
1) Laurette's Head
2) Laurette inside

For those having problems using the posted link from Matt's post above:
ftp://ftp.jriver.com/pub/downloads/music/MediaCenter110127.exe (http://ftp://ftp.jriver.com/pub/downloads/music/MediaCenter110127.exe)
try replacing the first ftp with http as in the link below:

I've had a big problem with the recent builds of MC 11 - the Media Server no longer works with my Tivo. Tivo sees the Media Center, I can browse the files, but as soon as I try to play something, the Tivo seems to freeze up and reboot. It might play one or two seconds of a song before it does this. I've tried more than a few different files, bitrates, etcc.
The wireless streaming still works with the Tivo Desktop and with MC 10, so this definitely appears to be related to the MC 11 upgrade.
-
I wrote about a problem using JRSS where the front and back speakers would swap between songs. The problem was present in 11.0.105. I just loaded 11.0.127, and the problem is still there. Guess I'll keep reporting it every now and then till it bubbles to the top of the priority list.
It is described in more detail in this thread:
http://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php?board=3;action=display;threadid=20879;start=msg169866#msg169866

Same problem here. Due to this, my darn TiVo rebooted while recording a show I wanted to watch yesterday... :-[

For TiVo now, switch to the new plug-in in the tree. Do not run Media Server with TiVo. Try a search for "tivo server".

I see the new plug in, and it says it's started, but Tivo does not pick it up. I'm also running the newest version of the Tivo Beacon and I still have MC10 installed, both of those work just fine. I've even tried specifying the IP address in Tivo to no avail.
-
You may also have Media Server running?
Try another port and check the config for Tivo Server.
-
No, Media Server is definitely not running. The "Tivo Desktop" 1.3 is, though, and it shows up. What kind of config should I be checking on the Tivo Server? I don't see any configuration options.
-
If you can post on the TiVo board here, you'll find better help. You may also find some instructions here if you search.
-
MC still allows itself to create filenames using "Rename file form properties", which are of 'illegal filename length' which subsequently CRASHES MC when these files are handled by MC.
Can you not program this to truncate the name, or advise the user to respecify the name as the one chosen is illegal in length?
-
Bug: When changing the name of a view, the name in the tree branch does not get updated until you close and then reopen the parent branch.
(Note: I use the term "bug" loosely here. :))
-
Wonderful. I'm a real newbie with a question:
In the 11 beta, what is the new icon on the toolbar for Media Modes for "documents"?
Love your program! JL
-
You can import and manage document files. Check the file types in tools/options/file associations.

Well said, Quixote. I'll second all of what you posted!

Links in web media are not opening in default browser
-
I renamed some APL files using another app.
I then used Import to fix and to import files/links.
The renamed APL files were not found.
The APE file those APLs refer to was found however.
-
Not a bug, but a small inconsistency in the interface:
'File/Export All Playlists...' - note the ellipsis which signifies you are going to get a dialog box. But if you click this it automatically dumps your playlists into a subdirectory Playlists of your library directory. I was expecting to be asked where I wanted them to be placed, and the format, like the File/Export Playlist menu item.
-
a single-click on a folder or file may cause the 'double-click' behavior to be executed
MC continues to report my library as having a duration of "6.9 Years" (in spite of a number opf additions to the library),
while I wish it was so, it ain't.
MC is still stopping at 'My Computer' rather than proceeding into the drive to the designated folder. I have tried deleting and recreating tyhe favorites but this did no good.
-
If you "Add Playlist" and then start moving audio tracks into the playlist, they get sorted in the wrong order.
The first track you add becomes the last track in the playlist and the last track you add is the first!
Is this the correct behaviour? If so, why?
-
This build and the last one crashes on import of .ape files. 3 media core crashes in a row with the following message:
It happens when MC is looking for files that had changes.
AppName: media center.exe AppVer: 11.0.126.0 ModName: media center.exe
ModVer: 11.0.126.0 Offset: 0025a6ec
-
Also,
It is still trying to import cover art (from the internet) that are already there...
Thanks.
-
Problem or bug:
MC11 imports JPEG/JFIF files with CMYK compression, but doesn't display neither thumbnails nor the whole image!

Marcel's post on Toshiba PDA problems and Steve's reply are here now:

When creating a playlist, the drag and drop into the action window is goofy, ithe ordering is screwed up and things don't always refresh properly. Also with the playlist action window open, if I go to "playing now" and hit Alt-Enter on a song to check the tags, the tagging action window does not show up (even though the scrollbar for the navigation tree shortens appropriately (hope that made sense).

Can you send a small sample WAV that MC is failing on to matt @ jriver.com
Thanks.

In MC10 there was a registry hack for "LastSelectedOptionsPage". I loved this feature but there seems to be no equivalent in the new registry setp for MC11. Any plans to include one?
That option changed the page that Options opened to. It's still there but named differently. Why do you want to "hack" that? (or is there some other setting?)

Do you mean so you can have 3 or 4 of the last options displayed on the right click menu?
If So,
