... so much, if they could be displayed differently.
They really allow a lot of added value, e.g. when you want to assign multiple genres, situations, moods etc.
- but as soon as you use them you get confused when you're tagging and find all these combination entries (e.g. Slow Rock; Blues; Southern Rock) instead of having the possibility to mark multiple entries.
I raised this issue maybe 8 weeks ago and Matt, you said it would be fixed in V11. When???
Would be really glad if you'd give me an answer!

Add the field as a column in a view scheme. Then use the checkboxes next to each item to do tagging.
-
OK, that works for few cases but not if
- I have a view scheme that is restricted to files that don't have tags => Then I cannot check the item because there isn't any so I have to choose "New ..." (e.g. situation), but then
- The drop-down offers not only the single field contents but all combinations of it
- same for window "tag info" => the drop-down becomes useless because you cannot choose single items any more.
-
Click the "New Value" checkbox in the pane to enter something new.
-
Yes, but then the result is not what you expect to get.
Example:
Custom field "Situation":
Values are
- Party rock
- Party dance
- Private
- Background
- Dinner
- Relax
I have some songs I want to assign multiple values to like
Background and Dinner and Relax. Then another with
- Background
- Party Dance
Then, if I do what you proposed for a new song I find the following drop-downs:
- Party rock
- Party dance
- Private
- Background
- Background;Dinner;Relax
- Background;Private
- Dinner
- Relax
After a while you get confused when trying to assign single values because you get a large list of attributes with all combinations. This effect you get when trying to tag via "Tag Info" window and also when choosing "New Value".
Solution:
If I want to add new entries:
1. Only display single attributes (disregard multiple attribute lines)
2. Show single attributes in a list but with check box in drop-down to allow multiple assignments of attributes
If I want to show currently assigned attributes (more than one)
1. Only display single attributes but show multiple lines marked
2. Show single attributes in a list but see multiple lines checked
This feature could be useful for all attributes where you don't want to assign only one attribute in a column.
You know what I mean?
