Title: A New Cover Art Finder For Media Center 11 Only!
Post by: KingSparta on November 25, 2004, 09:56:12 am
This Program Will Be For Media Center 11 Only, it is free!

I could make it for other versions of media center but i would rather people to upgrade, and support J River And all the work they do to bring us users such a wonderfull program to play our media on.

last night I ran it thru 24,000+ mp3's with no problems

AnyOne Have Any More ideas Ideas?

A Few Pictures of the beta project, also following the pictures is the help file

A Bit Of Help
Mode 1

Put All Your Files Into "Playing Now"

Goto The Plug-In And Make Your Settings

Click The Batch Button

You Can Select "Stop Batch" If You Wish To Stop The Batch

Mode 2

Put All Your Files Into "Playing Now"

Goto The Plug-In And Make Your Settings

Then Play The Music As You Normally Would In Media Center If You Have Missing Art Once The Music Plays The Plug-In Will Connect To The SpartaSoft Server And Attempt To Get It For You. The Plug-In Will Attempt To Upload Art To The Server As Well If The Server Does Not Have This Cover Art.

[X] Get Cover Art If Missing

If Art Is Missing When MC Goes To Play A Song The Plug-In Will Download It From The SpartaSoft Server If It Is Available, If you Have Art And That Art Is Not On The Server It Will Upload It To The SpartaSoft Server.

[X] Make Fields File Name Friendly

This Option Will Allow The Program To Change The Artist Name, Song Name And Album Name FileName Friendly By Removing Chars Like "*", "\", "?" Etc.. From The Fields. The Plug-in Will Always Save The Art With A FileName Friendly Format No Mater If This Option Is On Or Off.

[X] Loose Search

The Program Will Look At The Server For Artist Name And Album

If Cover Art Is Not Found The Plug-In Will Look Under The Artist Name And Song Name Since This Art Can Come From Any Album From That Artist It Would Be A Bit Loose.

Note: Since All Album Art Is Auto Submitted By Users Any Art Submitted By Users Might Be Loose Anyway.

[X] Looser Search

This Option Will Allow The Program Will Look At The Server For Artist Name Only If No Art Was Found Prior To This Try Using Artist - AlbumName And ArtistName - SongName

Note: Since All Album Art Is Auto Submitted By Users Any Art Submitted By Users Might Be Loose Anyway.

[X] Save Art In Album Folder "folder.jpg"

All Art Must Be Saved In Album Folders Like

C:\MyMusic\ArtistName\AlbumName\

You Can Not Have Music In Folders Like

C:\MyMusic\

If You Did You Would Just Keep Over Writing The "Folder.Jpg" Image

Normally This Option Should Be Set To Off Unless All Your Music Is In Album Folders.

Auto Select Image
[X] Largest [X] Smallest

Some Times Users May Want Small Images For Files You Take on The Go, Some Times Users Like Large Images With More Detail. I Have Made it So You Can Somewhat Make That Choice By Selecting This Option And You Should Get Images That Meet Your Needs.

Download Art From List
If You Want Something Other Than Largest And Smallest You Can Double Click On The Art In The List And The Cover Art Will Download And Be Saved To the File. This May Take A Few Mins To Download And Then Saved To Media Centers Database And Media File.

Delete Cover Art
You Can Select Cover Art In The List Then Click On The Delete Button. You Will Be Asked "Do You Really Want To Delete This File?" Yes, Will Delete The File Then Update The File List.

The Connect Tab
I Have Added A Way For Users With A Need To Enter A Proxy Address, This Normally Should Be Empty And Off For Most Users.

If Anyone Was Having The Plug-in Lock Up I think I fixed That Problem Last Night About 11:30 And A New Build Is Ready.

If Anyone Wants To Beta Test This Project Send Me A Message, And Tell Me:

1. How Many Media Files You Have
2. Tell Me How Many Of Them Already Have Cover Art
3. If You Use It Explain In Detail Any Problems You May Have Seen.

Note: There Is Not A Whole Lot Of Cover Art Right Now So I Am Needing Anyone With A Large Collection To Please Submit There Cover Art By Installing The Plug-In And Putting All There Files In Playing Now And Pressing The Batch Button.

Hello King,

I'd be interested in Beta testing for you.

I have 27,201 tunes. I would say that 75 percent or more have cover art.

Michel.

Hi King,
I've got about 25,000, about half with cover art.
If I understand how things work, I've sent you some cover art that I had.

I'd like to join for beta testing as well.

I have around 8000 tunes. Currently 10% without coverart, since I used your current version of cover art finder. It also also got me some wrong cover art, so I will need to redo some of them.

Good job on the whole thing.

Current Build is 0.0.76

I can't find nothing wrong

this build only logs in once in batch or when it is needed (like a disconnection). this should give the server a break on the number of repeated logins.

fixed a bug when registering, it did not always work like advertized

if you are running something older than 0.0.76 please download the current version

Oops

Current Build is 0.0.77

It was sending the Wrong TitleName.txt To The Server

This is A Small Text File That Tells The Dir What Is The Title Name Is For All The Files In This Dir.

Just tried it out. Pretty good. I like  the new option to only download if the cover art is not downloaded yet ... before it overwrote several good ones with new bad ones.

I have following wished:
- Before there was the option to specifically tell the program how to search. I would like to for example never download anything without using the artist name, since only using the album name is risky it gets quite some bad stuff. Is there a way to tell the cover art update this?
- I still have some bad cover arts. For those I would like to be able to remove the cover art and force the program to find a new ones on-line. So an option saying: Remove Cover arts and search ... this should be available for mode 1 and mode 2.

Thanks
Dom

As it states in the help file it does a search for

Try #1
ArtistName & AlbumName

Try #2
ArtistName & SongName

Try #3
ArtistName

======================================

I did just get back from my walk and i did not see anyone using the program So i Just Swiched Out My PowerBackUp System To A New One (Bigger) That I Bought ToDay.

So I did notice if it does not get a connection it will still run thru the files like it was connected, I Guess Thats A Bug.

But i was Thinking About A Option To Allow A User To Upgrade Or Downgrade So No Matter If You Already Had Art It Would Attempt To Replace What You Have.

Quote

You Will Always Get Bad Art, Unless You In Manual Mode Go And Delete It Off The Server, And The Offending User Does Not Upload Bad Art Again.

But you can replace art Now In Manual Mode For The Playing Song To Double Click On The Visable Art, It Will Download And Replace Your Current Art That Will Be The Best Way Of Finding Art And Replacing Your Current Art.

I added this morning Always Get Art (Not Tested) But i made a build anyway.

what it will do see you have art, check to see if the server has it, if not then the plug-in will upload it to the server.

then the plug-in will put it's self into get art mode and get art for the media file.

like i said i have not tested it yet (I had to go to work) but it should work.

0.0.80 seems to work when using the Get New Art even if you have art. adding received art to the list was broken also, fixed now.

0.0.79 did not work well at all

hi....

it seems to work pretty well...three things i want to mention

1.  it would be nice if the internet-search-option would also be included in it. perhaps an amazon picture is even bigger than the ones in your database. the best possible thing i could imagine would be if you could choose the cover art in selector (if you want to) so it would also be possible to clean up your database by marking wrong covers....

2. it seems as if the plugin is uploading a cover for every SONG, when the whole album has of course the same cover art. it does this even multiple times, if i run it a second time for example

3.  in the "other" section are no artist/album name viewable...it just says something like "file:3458 - \album\546532.jpg" would be nice if the names apear there....

thanks a lot for your work....
Title: Re:A New Cover Art Finder For Media Center 11 Only!
Post by: KingSparta on November 30, 2004, 08:49:45 am
1. was thinking of something like that last night

2. that may depend on the version you are using, for a few days i was uploading text no matter what.

it may also have something to do with your settings

it will send the album for each song, since art for each song could be dif, it should not send it for the album or artist every time.

I can't work on it today, maybe tonight but i will check into it a bit more.

3. was thinking about that

one list send and rec for more space

Rec: ArtistName - AlbumName etc....
Snd: ArtistName - AlbumName etc....

Post by: audiosorcerer on November 30, 2004, 09:23:59 am
yes that sounds good...atm it actually works i can also download covers i uploaded before...another problem i mentioned was when i'm in normal playing, at the beginning of each song mc is veeeery slow (it is up/downloading cover art)
it would be good if the plugin checks if the same cover art is already in the database and if it is, not upload it.....

it does

it takes your cover art, checkes its size if it inside a file it extracts it from the media file or just checks the size of the external art.

then it gets a dir from the remote server for that album, title, and artist
if not found it uploads it to the server.

Fixed: Would Always Download When in "Always Get Art" mode (basicly to upgrade the art), Now It Will Check To See If It Already Has The Art By Compairing The File Size, If It Does It WillNot Download What It Already Has.

Changed Send Receive List to just one list

See The Changed Screens Above

King, this version is great!  One of the earlier ones changed some of my art...but then i might have not set it properly.  However, put throug all my stuff and it uploaded fine.  Am in the process of double checking all the art work and have submitted correct covers if I find an error.  this too, has been working supurbly.  The checking may take a while, though, cause have over 14,000 tunes now.   Thanks again for all the work.  Will also put through the few that I don't have art for and let you know of the progress.    Bet

i think there could be a problem with the deleting of wrong art... if you this plugin will go public and many people are using this, the problem would get bigger....
when there's a wrong cover on the server and i delete it, somebody perhaps has already downloaded this one and has not deleted it on his own computer, it will upload again this wrong cover... there should be a mechanism to prohibit this, like a black or white list or something... its not that beig a problem now but i can grow i think

sorry for my bad english, i hope you understand what i mean

it will do it once now

added expire date to plug-in version #

0.0.84 expires on the 5th of dec

i was thinking about putting a button to see cover art.

this will bring up a web page with all art for that artist on the system

maybe i will see how it works this weekend.

this version now has a "View" button

so when your in manual mode you can press this "View" button

this will write a html file with the code to pull up all the images that are in the current dir.

after that is done, the plug-in will pull up a browser window so you can view all the images.

the images are centered on the page in orginal size, with the file name centered below it, in the order they are listed in the listing.

let me know if it works, it does here

not sure i know how to do that it would be neat

So when you view a list of images on the browser you can now drag that image to the drop box.

once you drop it in the drop box the plug-in will save it to the current file

kind of neat really

Michel.

I tested it on two computers, and it worked.

Push The View Images

Click On A Image In The Browser Window

Drag It To The Box

It Should Show A Draging Icon

Drop It

With Version: 0.0.88

Shows A Busy Pointer, This Version Also Makes Sure It Is A "JPG" Or "GIF" Image the user is draging.

After it is copied from the temp folder then the pointer turns back to default

Anyone Else?

0.0.92 adds

Added: Get Minimum And Maximum File Size For Cover Art

Fixed: Sometimes The List Of Art Would Not Update As Fast As It Should And The Plug-In Thought The List Was Empty. So I Added A DoEvents, and the list now updates fine.

this was only a problem when using Loose And Looser

0.0.94

Added: Search For Art On SlothRadio

You Have a Option In the Program To Pull Up A Browser Window To Send A Parm To SlothRadio (Who Uses Amazon.com, Amazon.uk, Amazon.de) For Art.

You Can Set The Country In The Plug-In

You Can Pull This Up In The Plug-In Browser Or A External Browser

Extened The Expire Date

Added A New Web Site to www.spartasoft.com

It Has over 1,000 Images of Vintage radios on it from the 1920's, 30's, 40's, 50's And 60's

My provider has also been having problems.

OK, I ran it yesterday against my files yesterday. I tried doing things at the same time and perhaps I should have just left the computer alone because it hung a few times. I finally made it all the way through all my files. Not sure exactly how to reproduce the problem though.

I probably missed something along the way but it would be nice if there was an interactive mode. In the Cover Art Found box, there can be multiple numbers and it would be nice to be able to select which cover art I wanted to select.

I manually added a bunch of cover art that it couldn't find and am running it right now hopefully sending it to your server. Hope I could help contribute to the collection.

you can

double click on a file in the file list

or click view images, it will pull up a page with all the images on it

at that point you can drag the image to the drop box

there is no way to do this in batch since the point in a batch is not to be asked questions.

I would like to test out your program (all your other ones are very good)

10,000 songs

60% Have Covers

Thanks!

Sometimes throughout the batch running I get the messages "Error Sending Covert Art File: ...".  I have to start the batch process all over starting at the point where it started getting the error messages. It's probably tough to pinpoint the problem but do you think it's the Internet, your server, etc.?

maybe it also depends on

1. what version of the program your using

2. you can also remove media in playing now up to that point, and then it would not run thru them again.

also that message was in there on the first few builds but is no longer there, so not quite clear what message you would be getting if your running the current version.

I'm running .94. The message "Error Sending Covert Art File: ..." appears in the Sub/Rec Status tab.

I could have sworn I posted a message in response to King's interactive reply but don't see it, so I'll try again. When viewing in the plug-in the different covers found for a particular song, I couldn't find a way to page down or whatever to get to the next song in the playing list if I didn't want to do the auto batch at that time. That would allow seeing if there was a more appropriate cover. The only way I can see to do this is to go back to Playing Now, delete the first song, and then go back to the plug-in. Is there any way to go to the next song while in the plug-in?

play the song, click on the ">>" arrow in MC

I can add something for "Next"

if you continue to get this error with all filesthen maybe a firewall problem.

if it is just a file here and there. the plug-in tries 2 times to upload or download the data, if it can't then a error message will be placed in the list and it moves on.

added: auto view art on the internal browser, when a user is playing Music.

as the music is playing you can review the art found

Added: Current Cover Art Added If Exists To Html, it is first in the list boxed and "Current Art: xxxxxx" highlighted in blue

allows you to compare current and found cover art at orginal size

Added: 3 Modes Now

Play, Batch, And Manual ("Back" & "Next")

Adds: The Plug-in now will resize as the user changes the size of Media Center

this allows the user to see more of the cover art in the browser window if the users screen size allows for the larger screen size.

a screen size of 1024x768 or higher is recomended for this plug-in

I Really Think This Is Kind Of Cool, when the music is playing it will seek out of list of cover art, then allow the browser to display it, per your size settings also (if you have them set).

you can then select at will the art and drag it to the drop box if you don't like the current art.

the width of the plug-in will stay the same but is set to show off full 500x500 covers

King,

good work on the whole plugin!  :)

One more thing. I still noticed that I have lots of wrong cover art. It's not clear where they all came from, so I deleted them all and deleted the whole cover art folder in MC as well.
Unfortunately it the Cover Art Finder just gets back the bad cover art. Even if I removed it  using the Remove Art buttong in the cover art finder.

So one thing that would be cool is a feature that allows you to prevent loading the same cover art again if you once removed it. Would that be possible? Somehow you would need to remember the size and name of the cover art and then not download that one anymore if it's been removed once.

This would also help cleaning up the DB also, since people can clean it up and tell which cover is really wrong.

Thanks
Dom

They Come From Users Like Your Self With The Wrong Coverart, You Have Access As A User To Delete Bad Covers.

You May Need To Click On The Button "Album" (Then Delete The Wrong Cover), Then Remove Your Wrong Cover. If You Do Not It Will Get Uploaded Again. Also if You Have (Loose Or Looser) Slected This Cover Ac Exist In The Title And Artist Folder Also. So If It Is Not Even The Correct Artist You Must Delete It From All 3 Folders. But If It May Be Found On The Album Shown But It Might Not Be The Same One You Have. So You Should Just Not Delete Covers Because Thats Not What You Have (Unless It Is Not The Correct Artist).

It Works, I Have Done It.

Like I Said If It Is The Wrong Artist Delete It From All 3 Folders, And Delete Your Art.

Are You Using Folder.jpg? I Don't Delete That, Maybe I Should.

It Could Be If It Was Stored In A MC Field In The Media File, I Will Think About It, But If It Was Delete Correctly You Would Not Have This Problem.
