Title: MC11 crash when importing files
Post by: yannl on December 05, 2004, 04:05:25 pm
Every time I try to import some new files I have in my MP3 folders, MC crashs..
It searches for new files. Then add files to library then freeze. I guess it finds something it does not like, but what ? How can I find out ?

divide the files in the folder

when you find the file J River may want you to send it to them

Maybe the log file in MC 11.0.129 (or newer) could help.  Instructions here on how to check the log:

Thanks for any help.

OK, great, I found the bug:
veeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeery long folder / file names.

Example:
M:\multimedia\mp3\All kind of Full Albums\Latino\Antonio_Orozco_-_El_Principio_Del_Comienzo_ALL_ FAMILY_CDS_COLLECTIONS\Antonio_Orozco_-_El_Principio_Del_Comienzo_ALL_ FAMILY_CDS_COLLECTIONS\00_-_Antonio Orozco - El principio del comienzo.MP3

I removed the looooong names and it worked.

I also looked on an old log file, after a crash with a previous build, and had other problems, like fancy characters in the files names, but as it did not reproduce this time, I assume it's fixed. I'll tell you if I get any other problem like that.
Thanks again for your amazing software guys.
