Has anyone tried to use the Sound Blaster Audigy NX2 USB remote control to control Mediacenter 10? If not which remotes have worked well for you?
-
I have tried and failed. I would love to learn how to get the remote from the 2NX working to control Media Center!
er, should I have just said "bump"?
Cheers,
Jeff

Thanks Jeff. If you dont mind me asking....what have you tryied? Have you tried loading other IR plugins, which I think is the major issue. If we can get MC10 to see the IR receiver the rest should be a piece of cake. I will be trying some other things this weekend and will let you know how I make out.

Remember that MC supports Girder input plugins.
Also, I've had good luck with my IRMan. It lets you use any IR remote to control MC, so you can use the same remote that's controlling your amp, TV, etc.
-
Hey Matt... Does that include the remote that you can buy with PowerDVD? I can only seem to get it to work when I have power DVD installed, and even then it only works with limited capability. I havent tried Girder, but even the Dell and PowerDVD documentation said that it would have limited support outside of Dell Media Center and PowerDVD.
The only thing that boggles me is that Its just a USB IR reciever and a Remote. Should there not be a way around the software limitations since it is, afterall, a piece of hardware?
-
Thanks Matt. How does the ir man work? it's just h/w and MC10 can be trained to recognize the ir commands?
-
Correct. You can see how it's done under tools/options/remote.

Hi Musicnut,
Are you still working on how to use the Audigy NX2 USB remote control? Or is the case closed since you decided to use IRMan instead?
I don't have any good suggestions, but If you are still working on a NX2 remote solution I am interested to know what happens. If the case is closed, that's good to know too.
(Yes, I have the mail notice option set)

Tanguero,
Tried everything this weekend and failed miserably. Broke down and ordered the IRman. Not alot of money but I just didn't want a bunch of devices hanging around.

Thank You Musicnut for telling me.
Sorry to hear that you didn't get more out of your work with the problem. I guess I will also end up buying another little box to put in the room I don't want to think of as my computer room. Bu with a nice sound card and a really good player SW, that's not much to to cry for.

Tanguero,
It actually worked out well. I got my IRMan today, plugged it in and it took about 5 minutes to program MC10 and it works great!! didn't even need to install the s/w that came with the it. I then unisntalled all of the bloated software that came with the Soundblaster NX2, since I don't need it, and it's awsome. Thanks you Matt for recommending this. I should have done it a long time ago.
-
Sounds like the way to go. Are you using your Creative remote control or did you get the Evation remote as well, Musicnut?
-
Tanguero,
That's the beauty of the IRMan, you can use any remote. I am using my Sony RM-MV3000 and also using the remote that came with the NX2.
Good luck

Thank you musicnut,
Then I know what to do.
