Title: New: Plug-In Move Cover Art To Folder.jpg
Post by: KingSparta on December 08, 2004, 07:01:45 pm
you can download it at

www.spartasoft.com (http://www.spartasoft.com)

let me know if you have any problems.

Basicly if you have coverart, and wish to copy it to the album folder it will copy it and tell MC11 to use the folder.jpg art from that folder.

read the help file

A Bit Of Help

Main
There Is Two Buttons "Auto Batch" And "Stop Batch"

Push "Auto Batch" First

If You Are Panicing Press "Stop Batch"

Setup Tab
[X] Yes, Save Art In The Media Folder As 'Folder.jpg'

Checked Is Yes, Unchecked Is No, If You Check No The Plug-In Will Not Work, That Is The Point Of This Plug-in, And This Check Box Is Only Here For People Who Have No Clue Of What They Are Doing.

[X] Yes, overwrite any Cover Art in the media folder with the FileName 'folder.jpg'

Checked Is Yes, Unchecked Is No

If you already have some 'folder.jpg' images and do not want it overwritten then leave this unchecked

A List
It Is A List Of What Is Going On When The Plug-In Is Working.

Norton AntiVirus
Something you may see if you run Norton AntiVirus is this message "Malicious Script Detected". this is simply the program trying to save some registry settings so it remembers them for next time you use the program. That's it, no major event to worry about in your life. Select "Authorize this script" and life will continue as normal.

So this only works in MC11?

Is there an advantage to storing the art inside the album folder?

Personaly i don't see why anyone would want to, thats why i never really cared about it, and since J River has really not worked tward doing anything else with it they may be thinking the same thing as I.

maybe someone with a bigger brain than me explain why if they don't have this they will die.

I just don't see it

I guess no one found any Bugs.

Well, I store my art in the folder as jpeg because my Zen only has 60 gigs of space and I want as much music as possible - so i keep my files as small as possible.  And, besides, my Zen doesn't show the cover art anyways.    ;D

King, thank you, as I am a firm believer that all help files are a good thing for those of us who aren't exactly computer savy or have gotten to that stage of life where we have forgotten most of what we have learnt in the past....now just why did I come in here???   ;D

hehehe

By the way, some people may want to copy art to the folder but not allow this file to be linked to MC, so maybe that should be an option

0.0.2

Fixed: Stop Batch
Added: [X] Change Image Path To the New "Folder.jpg"

I added this incase people wanted to keep mc database and files just the way it is but put a image in the media file folder.

Mark,
Thanks for taking on this task.  One more in a long line of nice things you've done for people using MJ and MC.

your welcome.

one more thing i can add to this is If there is no image in the coverart folder, and no internal art then look in the media folder for folder.jpg and if there allow that to be imported into the media file or database.

I will get to that when i get back home, I have been picking up my boss the 4 glass CROWN ROYAL gift set.

Now take Note Gateley, Matt, John, the rest of the J River Crew Just because I buy my boss something nice does not mean you need to. But if I were you I would think twice about not giving Jim something nice for christmas. Remember the "WHEREHOUSE" across the street still needs a good cleaning.

version 0.0.3

adds:

if no image is avail inside the media file or external link, but there is a folder.jpg in the media folder then it will take folder.jpg and use it and link it to the database, and if you have it to store inside the media file when you go back to MC it will save the files inside the media file (depending on the type)

ps let me know if you can't see the animation above

Simple...once you download the plugin, close MC - run the installer for the plugin, re-open MC and it should be there under plugins on the left side of the screen.  Then open it and play!  Bet

Simple

don't know why it is not working for you

working for everyone that i know of

you must have something going on on your system

the program is a installer, like most installer programs, that installs the plug-in.

Would it be terribly difficult to have the plug-in search the internet if it doesn't find cover art in any of the folders?
Title: Re: New: Plug-In Move Cover Art To Folder.jpg

thats what my cover art finder plug-in does

as a matter of fact the new version does this and search my web server.

If the 'overwrite any cover art in the media folder' is UNCHECKED, then only the first file in an album will receive a new 'image file' path. the other files in the album won't be changed to point to the new folder.jpg

I use 0.03 version of the plugin and jrmc 11.0.162

I guess I misunderstood this option. I've been having problems lately with somehow my cover art in my cover art folder disappearing. Since some were very hard to find or I had to scan them, I want to put the images in the media file folder also as a backup copy and not as folder.jpg. I assumed if I unchecked this option above that it would move the image but keep the same name. Guess I was wrong.

Guess I was wrong

yes it at that time only moved foound art to the media file folder (or album folder)

I guess I could add an option to move any found art to the media file folder under the current artist name and album name.

is that what you want?

i don't see a point to it since folder.jpg should not change or vanish where the external art in the coverart folder may get disconnected.

Yes, that's what I was looking for. Copy the image file but don't rename it to folder.jpg. I don't really want hundreds (thousands?) of folder.jpg's around. Seems like the first option unchecked would do that.
Thanks,
Jeff

[X] Yes, Save Art In The Media Folder As 'Folder.jpg'

Checked Is Yes, Unchecked Is No, If You Check No The Plug-In Will Not Work, That Is The Point Of This Plug-in, And This Check Box Is Only Here For People Who Have No Clue Of What They Are Doing.

Then this checkbox makes no sense at all. If it's just to let the people know what they are doing then check the box and then disable it so it can't be unchecked. Seems to me that unchecking it means I don't want it saved as folder.jpg but as the original name. But thanks for your time on this. I can do what I want manually; it will just take me longer.

i see what your saying that was just to make sure someone wanted to really save it, and i did not get a complaint about changes that were made.

I guess no matter what you do, i am not sure i can word it any clearer

When I run the plug-in it creates the folder.jpg int he folder just as advertised. It also creates a folder.bmp thumbnail which I don't want. Is there any way to stop the plugin from doing this?

On another topic, when there is already a folder.jpg in the folder, the plug in takes forever to go through each song in the folder without really doing anything. When there isn't already existing cover art in folder it whips along quite nicely. Why is that?

Lastly, is there way of making it more accurate in which covers it selects? About 20% of the albums it picks are way off base. Is there some way of increasing accuracy or at least making it easier to review the choices to see what the plug in downloaded?

Other than that, thanks for the plugin and your other contributions to the product.

Are you sure your talking about the currect plug-in? this plug-in only works with the cover art you already have. this plug-in does not download files.

if your talking about another plug-in start a new topic, if your talking about this one your way off base.

Hi There. Is it possible have the plugin move cover art stored inside a file to the MC cover art directry? I'd like to move all my cover art from inside my mp3s to a single cover art directory (ie, the way MC can handle it).

I can't work out a simple way of automatically extracting internal cover art to a location other than the media files' folder - am I missing something?

Thanks in advance.

go to MC turn off save cover art inside

select all files in MC

use update tags from library

this should export all the art to your default art folder.

While you're in there tinkering with the code, how about just keeping the same filename that you find in the cover art directory instead of renaming it during the copy? Please?  ;)

No Clue What Your Talking About.

Pseudocode:
1. go to cover art directory and get filename of cover art, e.g. Artist - Song.jpg
2. find artist from filename
3. get name user wants to use for copied filename from new option, e.g. cover.jpg
4.* see if newer option checkbox called "Keep same cover art name" is checked. If so, keep the same filename, i.e. Artist - Song.jpg.
5. If #4 checked, copy existing filename, i.e. Artist - Song.jpg, to the correct artist folder. Else copy user's preferred cover art filename from #3 to the correct artist folder.

If I am still not clear, please let me know.
Thanks,
Jeff

Does this mean I can use: [Artist] - [Album] as the file naming template? Or is the syntax different?

No, but I Will Look At It, Maybe I Can Make It So

With Latest MC11 you can now configure how your art is saved.
