Title: Media Server crashes on startup
Post by: boredomjockey on December 14, 2004, 03:12:00 am
I'm running Media Center 10.0 and after many months of smooth operation Media Server has started crashing just after it starts up, 100% of the time.  This happens regardless of whether it's starting up with Windows XP or I'm starting it up manually.  It launches, the icon appears in the system tray, and about 5 seconds later I get an error message as it crashes ("Media Server has encountered an error and needs to close...etc.").  I have tried re-installing this same version of Media Center and this did not help.

I do see an application error in the Windows event viewer that says the following:

Faulting application media server.exe, version 10.0.200.0, faulting module jrreader.dll, version 10.0.106.0, fault address 0x00003428.

Any idea what the problem could be?  Has anyone else run into this problem?

Cheers,    -Christopher
