Title: sparta cover art plug-in for mc10
Post by: kewe65 on December 16, 2004, 02:34:58 pm

when i used this plug-in the first time, it found a good sized chunk of cover art that was not the correct cover art, occassionally not only the incorrect album for a correctly identified artist, but a completely different record that had no similarity whatsoever with the selected item.  i had to manually replace them....

are there default settings that should be adjusted to prevent this?

things in this world are never going to be perfict

you can change the settings on the setup tab to just artist name and album name on pass 1, and then turn  off the rest.

but it is never going to be perfict

My newer cover art finder has more control for MC11

i wasn't even remotely calling it less than perfect....   unless you consider perfect to include what appears to be an abberant error rate.

i'll try your suggestion.

the way it works is lets say you had a server like maybe "amazon.com" and you send it a search parm. at that point the server renders a page the plug-in basicly takes the resualting web page and strips out the non relevent info and finds the first link that was provided by the server.

it is like doing a search on Google, you get a bunch of links that may or may have nothing to do with what your looking for. I think the plug-in provides a better % however.

it all depends what you send the server as a search parm

Garbage in Garbage out

Even more so when the searching for some artists like "Heart" and Album Greatest Hits. tends not to give a very good result back.
