I'm having a big problem importing files into Media Center. If I try to import only a single album or so, it works fine. However, whenever trying to import a large collection (i..e more than 200 files), it starts importing, but it gets to a particular point and just stalls, displaying the nonresponsive "Importing New Files" dialog.
The only thing I can do in this case is to kill and restart the program.
Once it does start up again, however, the library does not contain the additional files that were supposed to be added.
Can anyone help? This is the only problem I'm having with an otherwise superb program. I'm using Media Center 10.

I don't know, but I can predict what you will be advised to do: Break down your importing "queue" to half your tracks, then half of that, and then half of that, etc. until you can find the track that is causing MC grief. Once found, send it to Matt or someone. ;)
You can try out MC 11. In there, they added a log file to the import process which should, theoretically, instantly pin-point the problem track. (MC 11 can be installed side-by-side with your current MC 10.)

Thanks for the reply, I'll try out MC 11.
So what typically causes the problem? Is it a tag format problem within the track itself, or is there some kind of problem with MC?
I'm curious because iTunes used to miss some of my library files as well (w/o crashing), and that was a ID3 tag issue.

<shrug> The few times I have seen this reported, JRiver has never come back and publicly disclosed what the problem was. (There's no reason they should, I guess. :)) I presume it was probably just a tagging problem, but I have nothing to base that on.

i think it could be a bit of both
sometimes the ID3v2 tag gets corrupt
also sometimes a mp3 (mpeg) will have sync errors, and since MC will scan a file to get the bit rate of the file this may be where MC is crashing.
at any rate if you find the file, Matt may want a copy of it so he can fix the problem.
make sure your using the latest version since there has been bug fixes
