Title: Transfer Fail to Axim
Post by: jankm on January 21, 2005, 10:37:41 pm
I just started trying to use my Axim for the first time since upgrading to MC11, it worked fine with MC10.

I am just trying to transfer one mp3 file, no conversion, to the storage card to make sure it works before I setup syncing. It fails ...

Transfer errors. (1 files)

Luckie St. transfer failed.
-2147024809

It creates a file with the correct name on the storage card that is 0 bytes.

I tried WPM10 and transfers work just fine, but obviously I would rather use MC11.

Let me know what other information is needed.

Thanks

Jankm,

Does the Axim show up in Windows Explorer as a drive? If so, can you drag and drop that file onto it and have the Axim play it?

What file type is the failed file?

Thanks,

Steve

In My Computer it refers to my "Mobile Device" as a 'System Folder'. I can drag and drop using Windows Explorer and that tansfers fine. It just doesn't work inside of MC11. I'm trying to transfer an MP3.

jankm,

Let me try to understand clearly.

You can open Windows Explorer and find your device listed in the tree. You can drag and drop the file which fails to transfer in MC to your device in the Windows Explorer tree and when you disconnect the device the file is found and is playable.

Is this correct?

Thanks,

Steve

Yes, that is correct.

What happens if you drag and drop the file to the appropriate location under 'My Computer' under the 'Drives and Devices' tree item as opposed to the device name path in the tree?

Inside of MC there is no entry under My Computer for my Axim.

Under Drives & Devices when I plust in the Axim it adds PocketPC, Storage Card, and Built-In Storage, which all make sense, but when I drag and drop to them none of them work.

I'm not sure if we mean the same thing when talking about Windows Explorer. I'm thinking it is going to my Windows Desktop and clicking on My Computer and dragging and dropping there (from another folder I have opened). That is what works. Any sort of transfer to the device from inside of MC does not work.

But you do see 'My Computer' listed in the tree under cd , drives and devices. Yes?

jankm,

Could you give me a comparable screen shot from Windows Explorer? Does drive F: or M: relate to the Axim?

I should have mentioned that: F: is my USB thumb drive and M: is my external USB hard drive.

The Axim is the Mobile Device.

jankm,

Based on what you have shown me, I do not know how the Axim is interacting with the PC.  If you right click on the start button in Winows and select 'Explore', can you send me a screenshot of the Axim in the tree?

Thanks.

jankm,

Thanks. I bet you had installed the PDA plugin with MC 10 for this to work. Assuming I am correct, I will need to update the PDA plugin for MC 11 to get this to work for you.
