Title: Handheld- File Type Not Supported
Post by: GHammer on January 21, 2005, 11:13:15 pm
I have setup a folder on a local drive as a handheld device which I named LocalD.
I choose to convert format to MP3 and excluded same format.

I created a playlist and did a Send To LocalD

When I look at the list to be transferred, all APL files are shown as "File type not supported."

The APLs in question play fine in MC.

I'm pretty certain that this had been working, but have not been able to use the handheld plugin for awhile.

GHammer,

Does conversion work if you are not using APL files? I think this issue is specific to APLs.

No, APE files fail as well.

But... If I ignore the status "File type not supported" and go ahead and hit transfer, the APE files are converted and put in the target directory.

Off to see if I can get APLs to be agreeable.

Ok, APLs are the same. They report 'not supported' but if you don't believe it and transfer they are converted and put in the target.

Now, to mix all filetypes, MP3, APL, APE and see if it works.

Ok, it seems to be a status thing, not a functionality thing.
When a made a playlist of mixed MP3, APL, and APE files the non-MP3 are shown as 'not supported'. If I go ahead and transfer the MP3 is sent and the others are converted and sent.
The status display lags by one file.

The first file was an MP3, it was showing "uploading" but was already finished while the next file was being converted. When file 2 was done,  file 1 showed 'finished' for status. And so on.
