Title: Windows Media files not playing in MC11?
Post by: Magicland on January 24, 2005, 12:50:51 am
I'm using MC11.0.177. I've got several Windows Media Video files which play fine in Windows Media Player 10, but don't display any audio or video in MC11. Does anybody have any idea how to get MC11 to play them?

MC11 seems to think it's playing them, as the progress bar moves along, but nothing plays.

You could try this tool for getting more information about the files:
http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_software/video_tools/gspot.cfm.
Can it detect what codecs are used?

You could also select this option: Tools > Options > Playback > Video playback settings... >  Use Windows Media Player engine for video playback when possible.

Are they public files? Is it possible to download a sample?

I figured out what the problem was. Stupid DRM. Under "Video Playback Settings" I selected "Use Windows Media Engine for playback when possible", and they played fine.
