Title: Audible File Support
Post by: jimn on January 24, 2005, 03:05:31 pm
Audible files should now be playable on the latest MC11 beta.  Just purchase an audible title from the Audible website (www.audible.com) and download it with Audible's download manager.

Let me know of any problems with the Audible playback.

Thanks,
Jim

The Audible website can now be accessed from MC by selecting it in the MC Service Manager.  In MC, go to Tools/Service Manager, select Audible, and choose "Show".

The service is a little funky. Or maybe this is a general issue with accessing websites via MC11?

Whenever I click or even double-click on a link, nothing really happens (it acts like it is going to the page, but doesn't move). If I move my mouse and go back and click again, then it goes immediately.

This happens every time on every link.

I saw the same thing.  I'm not sure whether it's a server problem or it's an MC problem.

Bump.

Any more feedback from you Audible fans? We want to get this working smoothly.

Thanks,

I'm seeing this also.

So how is this service supposed to "integrate" into MC?  It seems like all it does is allow me to browse Audible.com from within MC (with many extra clicks)...  If I try and download one of my "heard" books, it starts up Audible Manager to download it.  If I try and stream it, it starts up Windows Media Player, though I've told MC to take control of the .aa extension and I have "Desktop Playback" set to Audible Desktop Player within Audible Manager.

I got the same result when I tried to d/l one of my books. Is this going to replace audible manager? I love the idea, especially if I can set up media scheduler to download my WSJ every morning.

The integration of MC and the Audible store is currently being developed. For the time being, while you can use MC to browse the Audible site, but will still have to use the Audible Download Manager to get it on your PC. Then you can use MC for playback and organization.

This should be fixed now--that is,  in the next build.
