Title: MC11 GUI Freezing

When I start MC 11.0.184 the GUI stays frozen for 3 or 4 minutes. Processor usage is normal and windows XP pro still operates normally. If I set it to start playing on startup it plays fine while it’s frozen. It will occasionally freeze for a moment after the initial lookup. It behaves this way even if I use selective startup with everything unchecked. MC11 seems to have issue with the latest ATI divers.

XP Pro sp2
Radeon 9800 pro. Catalyst 5.1 drivers
XP 2500, 1024 mb ram. Nforce 2 ultra chipset.

“Try changing the startup options for location.  Try Start or Media Library”.

First thing I tried. No help

“Do you have a network drive mounted?  If so, is it on?”

No network drive.

The GUI is freezing sporadically all the time now. It’s become almost unusable. It’s only the GUI that freezes, playing continues without a hiccup.

No, The display settings are all default.

When it is frozen any window that passes in front of mc leaves an opaque gost.

Either MC is doing something that consumes the CPU or you have a virus or something else going on.

Try renaming the data folder to see if MC starts up.  It won't be happy, but it shouldn't freeze.

I sometimes get this and to fix my problem, I have to rename the thumbnail directory to something else and then it starts right off.

sometimes I can leave it sit for 10mins and nothing.

I had to go into safe mode to get access and rename the data folder but then MC wouldn’t start so I ran the install again in safe mode, (for some reason the install won’t run in normal windows) and that seems to have done the trick. There must have been a corrupt file in the data folder.

I have ThumbsPlus for my image organization. I never had generated any thumbnails in MC but thanks for the info.

The only plugin I installed was G-force gold. I uninstalled it, no help so reinstalled MC11 this timecleaning out the registry. Then I imported an older MC10 backup database and ran MC through its paces and it seems to be okay now.

If you now install MC11, it will probably be fine.  It sounds like the database was corrupt.
