I Was (Sort Of) Talking To Bob Today
Was Wondering What Users Think Is The Most Useful Plug-In That JRiver Has Made, Others Or SpartaSoft (AKA: KingSparta=Me).
-
PlayingNow. I use it every day.
-
for me, it's a toss-up between Playing Now and AudioScrobbler. Both are used every day.
-
It has to be Playing Now....
-
Audioscrobbler - It's always on!
Music Lobby - My PPC is happy.
Later.
-
It's a toss up for me really, because I agree that Playing Now is very useful on an ongoing, daily basis. However, I also found Lyrics Finder, Cover Art Finder, and a few other of KS's plugins to be very very useful. The difference is that I used each only once or twice.
To me, it's sort of like comparing a snowshovel with toothpaste.

snowshovel with toothpaste
What!
-
i tried Playing now at first and loved it. Its very useful if you are working on the same machine as MC. I moved MC to a media only PC, so playing now was less useful as i have MC maximised and remote desktop share it.
The other plugin i used was King's dupe finder, this helped with fixing some tags. I hope to use it more when they allow Virtual albums via APL files.
-
I'd say the Flac plugin. Without it I would have stopped using MC by now.

I was waiting for someone to mention this... I would have to agree, it's an *essential* plugin.
-
The DirectX plugin is used always.
As for other plugins, I have never been able to connect to King's site, so have never been able to use the one I want.
Not his site, it's the way it is here in beautiful Anhui Province.
-
What!
Hehe... toothpaste is useful on a daily basis, but a snowshovel is invaluable on those occasions when you need it... just like Playing Now and Lyrics/Cover Art Finder.
-
Lyrics Finder...but if aTagger was still working that would win by a wide margin, IMO.
-
For me, it's the DirectX plugin. RGC Audio's High Frequency Stimulator does wonders for MP3s.

I guess that's why you are "The Wile E. One" Great saying
-
my favorite would have to be "tempo and pitch" heh heh...i used to use pacemaker with winamp, but that was sooo long ago. Sometimes it's cool to listen to old songs at a faster speed. It definitely makes slow songs have a beat. Sure it's a novelty, but a fun one...well...if that sort of thing floats your boat.

Playing Now. It's the only Plugin I have installed.
-
- Audioscroller
(very cool to discover other music)
- Playing Now
(it should be integrated to MC, I think)
They are the most usefull for me...
I am waiting for a pluggin for stats... that miss!!

Now a stats plugin would be cool.
I'd use that pretty often.
I'm a bad person to ask about plugins that change data.
I have been bitten once too often and have become gunshy about allowing MC to write to my files. Might have been me, might have been MC, might have been the phase of the moon.
Regardless, I love the library, love smartlists, love the DirectX capability, love the fact that any format I want can be played.
Plugins that do something with existing data would be welcome. Like a stats plugin.
Also, I'd like to see something like this:

Rhino's PlayingNow can do that, and more if you wanted it to. If you want it to do just that, like the screenie, I don't mind sorting out the popup for you. All you need to then is install the plugin and tell it to use that "skin"...
Thanks!
I have downloaded the plugin and a couple of your skins. I will try it out for awhile to see if I actually like things 'popping up'.
-
you're welcome.
bit of a rush job, but I just knocked up this to mimic the cover notifier...
Cool! That was fast!!!
Just looking at your ini for this to get the cover art to be its original size. It seems to be stretched to about double.
I kinda like the trans-opus skin too except I get a warning that there is no 'bios' field.
-
Personally I can't get by without Lyrics Finder. I used to use Playing Now until I discoved NetRemote. When you discover NetRemote you don't need another app to show you what's playing graphiically and in a custom format, though I have to say that Playing Now is awesome.... just not quite as awesome as NetRemote.
Lyrics finder is great except for new stuff when you really have to go get the lyrics manually and submitt them to king's server. It would be good if it could do a search of a couple of popular sites for new stuff.
-
Any More?
-
Without a doubt,
the UPnP Server!!!

yep, me too.

I must admit that never heard of that plug-in... is that, in your opinion, any better than DFX? I'm currently a happy user of DFX but always ready to try new things if they are worthy.
Thank you

Way better than DFX, and free to boot!

Great! Do you know where can I find it? I just installed JRiver DirectX Host Plug-in and I assume I have to install also RGC Audio's High Frequency Stimulator. I tried their website but could not find the plug-in.
Thanks ind advance, GHammer :)

Please tell me more....
In what cases do you use this, for all types of music? For only damaged rips you are trying to fix?
In other words, if you have high quality rips (using EAC, LAME, APS), what will this and other DX plugins do?
Thanks!!
