Last night I was using MC 10 to rip 4 CD's. Two of them weren't in the YADB database and I didn't feel like having to type all the information in. I had to resort to using a program I already had, dMC Audio CD Input from dBpowerAMP, to do the ripping of those two since it got the data from freedb. It seemed to take a long time. And yes, I then uploaded the info to YADB via MC.
But next time this happens, what's the best and fastest CD ripper out there to use?
Jeff
P.S. And for some reason even when importing these 4 CD's MC could never find the cover art. Thank goodness for King's cover art finder.

I always use EAC (http://www.exactaudiocopy.org/) for all my ripping needs. You can set it up to rip as fast or as slow (bit perfect) as you want. When I was doing a lot of rips, you can run as many copies as you have CD drives, so things go faster. It uses freedb for all it's CD information, and I find that freedb has better information than YADB.

I always Rip In MC and type in the info if it is not found in YADB so others can use this info.
I try not to support other Jukebox Programs

I started out that way, but when I was doing bulk ripping of 600+ CDs, I found that 8 of 10 were either wrong or missing. When I tried to update the ones that had typos, YADB complained. That's when I switched to EAC. It ONLY rips, and my hit rate was closer to 8 of 10 found.

Hope this helps :)

1- Open 'Other Un-named Ripping Program'
2- insert CD and allow info to be obtained from the internet
3- click on 'Rip CD' in MC
4- The info from the 'Other Program' will now be read by MC and all will be filled in
Now that's cool. I'll have to try that next time.

I rip with MC and fill in Artist / album name only. Then I use the Godfather to get the track info and update the tags info from Freedb. Next I open MC and update files from tags.
Why can't MC use Freedb? Is it free or not?

Personally I don't find freedb any better than any other automatic lookup source. I've seen 8 or more hits for a single CD, some of which may be accurate. Of course you have no way to know until you choose one.
I just rip with minimal tagging and use another tool to get AMG data and tag the files afterwards. Then I update MC and once a month or so I send track info to YADB.
I never had very good luck having MC update YADB for CDs. Might have changed since the last time I tried it.
One of the reasons I do this is also because I like to get more info than Artist, Album, Year, Genre
