A message from: corkyboy1
that was in the Wrong Forum now posted here
Hi there,
I am using the latest build of MC10 (173) and am able to convert mp3 files to WMA and WMA VBR but whenever I try to convert an mp3 to WMA Lossless the program closes itself citing a MediaCore error. The WMA lossless encoder installed is v 2.0.34.
This problem was occuring with the previous build (155?) so is not due to the version upgrade.
Any thoughts welcomed,
Regards,
Colin

Most likely he was WMP10 installed on his machine. Only MC11 works with WMP10,

Hi there,
Yes I do have WMP 10 installed, so I guess that is the answer. Thanks for that input. Any thoughts as to how ready MC11 is at this stage? Since I have no other probs with V10, it might be better to wait.

Just for the record I have installed MC11 and the problem with WMA Lossless is now resolved.
Thanks,

Why are you converting Lossy mp3 to Lossless WMA. You will not improve the quallity of the mp3 by doing this. You can't put back what's already gone. You'd be better off re-ripping.

Perhaps some devices accept only wma. Then it would be a rational choice. Converting to a lossless format would prevent from further loss of quality (at the cost of storage space). If the files are ripped from audio CDs re-ripping would of course be a better choice.
Though, usually all devices accept mp3 in the first place.
