Hi,
I thought it was only the last build - the first time I upgraded to 11 - but the last build and the current build continually crash when I go to update library - here is sequence of events:
analyze library, create backup, add files, fix links, update library and 1/2 way through this I get the media core error.
I would love to attach the error file - as it is too long to cut and paste - so if you want it please let me know where to send it.
thanks in advance.

bump - no answer - I have files I want to add to my library - please help..................

Try importing half of your library at a time to see if it's related to a file. Then import half of the part that fails, and so on.
If you can find a file that causes the problem, we'd like to see it.
It's also possible that the PC has a hardware problem.

Hi,
I did import some of my library and it seemed to work - the problem is I have 35K+ files and don't know what file is hanging it up - is there a way to tell? thanks in advance.
-
Yes there is, just do what JimH told you. Import first a half of your files, then half of the files that failed and keep on doing so, always half of the part that fails, and you'd be able to find the offending file(s), if any.
Good luck.
-
You could also import only one type at a time -- wav, mp3, etc.
-
Is import keeping a log? That would make it very easy to find an offending file.
-
That would indeed be handy.
The log introduced in .183 only seems to log startup events.
Tracking down corrupted files causing problems is a pain with 1000's of files.
Logging import or tag operations doesn't seem like it would be difficult to implement but I would assume that you would need an option to turn it on and off so that logs don't become unwieldy.

I am having exactly this problem as well.
MC10 runs against the same set of files, with no problems.
[Edit] In fact, I did all my importing in MC10, then imported the library to MC11, where it worked fine. Seems like something is broken in the MC11 Import Files process.
-
Still happening with the .98 build. The Import process on the same directories works fine with MC10, and I can then bring that library into MC11, where it works.

Please email your import log to matt @ jriver.com
The log is here by default:
C:\Documents and Settings\[User Name]\Application Data\J River\Media Center 11\Library\Logs
Thanks for the help.
