Title: aTagger
Post by: Shelly on February 28, 2005, 10:17:24 pm
Since it appears that the aTagger developer has dropped the project, is it possible for someone else to pick up the pieces and continue it's development and debugging?

It Is A Bit Harder Now

Harder because of the AMG changes or MC?  It's such a valuable plug-in, it seems a shame for it to be dropped.

Because Of AMG changes

In recent days, andsort of what i had planed

I was going to convert the new lyrics finder into a

[X] Bios Finder
[X] Lyrics Finder
[X] Notes Finder

It would be a minor change to the program, but i wanted to come up with a way to also get Genre. bit it would need to get the full list of genre from all users and submit it only once and update the file and send it back.

so that is a bit harder.

I Am Currently Working On A Bios Finder

Basicly A Modified Lyrics Finder

Problem: No Data So Users With Alot Of Bios Need To Submit

I've got bios for about 5000 songs filled. Could submit those if that would help

I have a version of Bios Finder working (I started this morning), should have something ready in a few days after a bit more testing, and Help Files Editing.

it would be great if someone created a general plugin to grab info from websites using script that users could edit and update when needed. like this one:

http://www.anytag.de/forums/index.php?showtopic=1794

I bet KingSparta could put one together rellly fast with his knowledge and skills.(maybe linked with lyrics, bios and cover art finder) People (like me) could play around and post new and updated scripts.
It would be the ultimate solution.

That MP3tag program looks pretty nice. Given that kind of flexibility in a plugin, one could have a really nice solution to getting all the metadata you wanted!

I think the one thing that AMG has that is really cool is the song reviews.  Not every song has one but the more popular/better ones do.  I like them becuase it is more like a biography of the song and usualy includes a tidbit or two that I never would have known and gives that song a greater mystique about it.  That is the one thing  I wish MC could grab from AMG.

King, how did you ever happen to make out with getting Genre in a plug-in? That's the next thing I'm trying to clean up in my files.

I was playing with it, now that i have a new FTP Control, I will Go back And Take A Look At What I Can Do With It.

The Latest Version Of Chart Finder Has It In (It Does Have Two Bugs In It I Need to Fix However).

Maybe, We Will See.

aTagger alternative.

I have been using: "The God Father" / Custom Script to retrieve AMG info such as Genre.

see their post of the amg code here:

It also has AMG support in the online tab if you run a patch that is available in their forums.
I use this for one stop complete tagging including cover art.

GHammer,

I used TGF a long time ago and it seemed really cumbersome with AMG.  Is it improved and do you have it setup in a specific way so I can click it and forget it?

Thanks

I don't know what you consider cumbersome.
I run it, go to the directory the music is in.
Click AMG.
Right click a file and choose find album or artist or selection
Click get album
Apply
Update
Rename

Done.
All files have all info that AMG has including art.

For me, it is not hard. Your mileage may vary.
