Title: Apple Lossless (ALAC) & the 'one that plays them all'
Post by: bspachman on March 07, 2005, 10:06:23 am
Anyone from JRiver or an enterprising coder willing to take on the information presented here (http://craz.net/programs/itunes/alac.html) and turn it into a functioning encoder/decoder for MediaCenter?

That way, all of us iPod devotes can have the best of all worlds...lossless encoding, an iPod, and Media Center!

It would be great, but i think everyone is waiting to see Apple's reaction to it.

Perhaps this might work:   http://www.macnn.com/articles/05/03/07/basic.alac.decoder/

Has anyone implemented this.
Or found a solution to use lossless music on an iPod (no WAV format).

Marsies .....

For legal reasons, JRiver probably can't create this plugin.

However, MC has one of the easiest input plugin systems to code for, and the SDK is freely available in the developer's zone.

Have at it someone  ;)

Might want to move this thread over to the Third-Party plugins forum.  Someone over there might take a stab....

...If I only had the time to mess with a format I don't use.   ;)
