Title: Silent APE's
Post by: earthmonkey on March 12, 2005, 10:38:05 pm
Just installed MC10. Rip a CD to .ape, tracks show up in the library. Play one, and the play counter commences, but there's no sound. If I play a previously encoded (with iTunes) Apple lossless, or mp4, or mp3, then all is well. What gives?

BTW, hope iPod Shuffle support is really on the way...

I also had silent APE issues before. It turned out that the APE files were corrupted, probably through a faulty device setting. Download Monkeys Audio 3.99 from Matt's home page and run verify on theses files.

Good suggestion, but the files just verified OK.

Serious noob here, but seems if the file ripped OK, and I have playback of other file types then perhaps somethings wrong with the APE decoder? But its built in, so that seems unlikely. JIC, I'm going to try a resinstall of a plugin if one even exists.

Anyone have any other ideas?

BTW, those APEs play fine in Winamp. I must be missing something really obvious.

Had the same problem some time ago with some apes. Never figured out what it was. Just ripped the effected tracks (a douzend or so) again...

Just up and reinstalled. Now fine. Who knows, but I hunch it was ASIO driver related.

JRiver readers: Get you some shuffle support, yo. Lossless for the big rig, downconvert options for shuffle autofill = yeeeha.
