Title: List of all genres

I asked that question some time ago but never got a good answer but since I am a tenacious man, he we go again: ;)

I would like to export/print the list of all values in one field. Example: A list of all my genres or of all my artists. All I want to have is a nice little export to Word/Excel, whatever.

King Sparta - Mater of Plug-ins: I summon your powers to come up with a plug-in which does that (should it not be included in MC anyway) :D ;) :-*

I have been thinking about this for 3 years, and created a prototype plug-in, it works.

what it does is creates a user ID by grabing your drive serial#

then allows you to submit your Genre data.

then it will allow you to download other users genres

then it takes that data and creates a top pick based on all users

doing so may get you closer to the real genre for that media file.

if no data is avail for that media file, it will look for the artist genre and base the genre on what normaly the artist majors in.

i guess other options can be added

if you want a list of genres can't you do that now?

dump all files into a play list with only genres showing

then use ~nodups with "Genre" as the field

then export?

i just tried it, it works only problem is your forced to include the seq number, but if you load the html into excel you can purge that field.

Isn't that what Audioscrobbler is supposed to do? Or Moodlogic?

Why don't you start with a simple plug-in which does what I described...  ;) ;) ;)

because you can do that in MC 11 now

Why ?

Just make a smartlist that does this, copy and paste into excel, save as txt.

A plugin is useful when you want to do bulk modify or import into MC.
