Title: Where are the MC settings stored (all in the registry?)
Post by: mrchivs on March 16, 2005, 05:34:07 pm
Hi there, newbie question...

Is there a single registry key that can be copied from one installation or MC and restored into another new installation (i.e. from a home PC to a work PC or a laptop), so that all the config settings, playlists, smartlists are replicated. i.e. if I had a fresh installation of MC10, how would I get it to look exactly like that on my original installation? I saw some posts that reported the copying of the HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\JRiver didn't completely replicate the settings - are there additional steps to take?

Assume the platforms are identical, and the music library directory is a complete copy

Thanks

A library backup / library restore will get you most of the way there -- music, playlists, smartlists, view schemes, etc.

However, you'll still need to make a once through Options to tweak your settings on each machine.
