Title: Installing MP3 Codec without Internet Connection
Post by: electronflash on March 18, 2005, 05:16:52 am
Hello,

Is there a way to install the Lame MP3 codec without having an internet connection? I successfully used Lame as an external encoder, but internal would be more convinient.

Thanks Manfred

Media Center Uses Lame As The Mp3 Encoder, There Is No Need To Use It As External.

Sorry In have not explained my situation properly. The machine in question is not connected to the internet. After installing Media Jukebox, the MP3 codec is not installed. When using is to rip a CD, the program asks if it should be installed and leaves no option to install it from a file, but hangs on trying to connect to the internet.

Using a connected computer... Install the lame encoder to a disk and then transfer it to the computer in question.

This instruction does not complete properly. The system display the error message "Access to the specified device, path or file is denied. It apparently tries to open enc_mp3.mjp

Somewhere in the FAQ, there is one called something like "Plug-in download problems".  It has a work-around.

With the mjp file, you are half way there.  Open it with notepad and you'll see the zip file you need.  Edit the mjp file as needed.
