Title: audio problem w/ dolby digital encoded mpg files
Post by: rmarmes on March 25, 2005, 05:40:00 pm
I imported a handful of mpg video files w/2 channel audio into MC10.0.  Those files NOT encoded with dolby digital sound have audio.  Those encoded with dolby digital have no sound.

These same dolby digital encoded files sound fine when played outside of MC10.  Is there a plug in that I need to download?  If so what is the recommendation?  Thanks in advance for any help.

MC uses the installed system level codecs for that. Perhaps the other programs you used have internal codecs or the codecs you have don't work with MC for some reason.

You could try the AC3Filter decoding filter. It can decode DD and DTS. It has also a passthrough option for home theater receivers/amps with a build-in decoder.

Another option is to install the FFDSHOW decoding package. It includes many kinds of DirectShow video/audio/subtitles filters.

Alex,  Downloading the AC3 filter did the trick.  Thanks so much. R
