[fixed] - debug logging was the culprit
-
Nothing unusual here. The startup takes about 3 seconds with a local library of about 30000 items and the HD does not spin after the startup.
MC 11.0.266, XP, 2.8 GHz P4, 1 GB RAM, no installed plug-ins besides G-Force
-
For me and .226, it takes 2-3 seconds from clicking the icon to having MC in place.
I have Playing Now, AudioScrobbler, DirectX with Ozone 3 plugins, but nothing else like the servers loading.

marko,
Do you have other programs running? One thing you could check is your available memory. It could be Windows itself making room by writing to the swap. For example, programs like Photoshop can keep a huge amount of undo data in RAM.
If it is not caused by RAM shortage (check also your temp space) could it be a combined effect of things like your installed plug-ins, your OS settings (indexing service etc) and virus/malware scanners?
-
the culprit? debug logging + undelete software.
.....anyhoo, turned off the logging and I reckon that'll be it sorted.
Are you saying you turned off logging in MC (or other program)
and this made things quicker ?
-
Nice find and thanks for the details.
-
I turned off MC's logging, and yes, it's quicker now.
how is this done?
-
help > configure debug logging
-marko.
Sorry, don't find it. Could you give one more hint?
Thanks!
-
It's under the Help menu in recent MC11 builds. Maybe you don't have MC11? If not, there is no logging.
-
O.k., I'm blind. Searched within the contents of 'Help'. Now I get it.
Seems to be turned off by default.
Thanks
