Title: IE Browser Window
Post by: Jinto on March 31, 2005, 02:48:14 pm
Hi

I'm not sure if I am in the majority or minority here......

If I am in the majority, please, please, please can the browser links in MC11 create a new browser window rather than hi-jacking the most recent IE window. I tend to work with many windows open and find it very irritating to have to plough back many screens to get back to my work stuff!

If not, is there a way for me to change settings locally?

Cheers
M

I usually right click a link on a page and select Open in New Window so I don't need to go back, back, back while browsing.

I've Noticed the newest version of MC doesn't provide a right click menu from the start page.  In fact, since it isn't really an IE window, it doesn't have any of the normal tool buttons to go back, home, whatever.  So if you follow a link, to the Forum for instance, then to a post, you get stuck there (if you didn't know you could use the backspace key to go back.

How annoying!

I'm not sure why the right click menu has been disabled, but PLEASE, bring it back.

You can add a back button if you want to.  Right click on the top or bottom and customize.

I've stopped using IE as my default browser, but I remember having this problem too (not with MC, but in general)

You could give this a try and see if it fixes your situation:

1. Open IE and choose Tools > Internet Options
2. Click on the Advanced tab and scroll down to the end of the Browsing header
3. Uncheck "Reuse Windows For Launching Shortcuts"

(I am using XP so the options in IE may be different for a different OS. Look for something along the lines of "reusing browser windows")
