Ian,

Enable "Import" logging under Help > Configure Debug Logging...

Then run Import.

After the crash, open up:
C:\Documents and Settings\[User Name]\Application Data\J River\Log.txt

Paste the last few lines of the log here.  If it points to a bad file, please email a copy to matt @ jriver.com

Thanks!

Matt

Thanks for your help - it looks like there's a more general problem with my PC - I found the file (an MPG2, fwiw) but Explorer crashes whenever I try to open the folder!

There may be more than 1 problem here!  I got rid of the offending folder, but MC is still crashing and its an mpg file each time, though not every mpg.  I ran out of time to bottom this out, but the files seem to be fine  - I'll carry on looking at this tonight.

I see a lot of this too. For me though, it's mostly down to .DAT files I've copied from svcd's and renamed to .mpg, I'd always put the problems down to that and placed these files into a folder excluded from MC and played them with PowerDVD instead.

These are mpegs I've rendered myself - separating them from the source material would be a real pain!  I'm realy hoping there's a fix for this because right now I can't import anything!
