I have about 18,000 mp3 ripped from my original CDs. About once a week, I end up playing an mp3 which has skips in it from a faulty CD rip. Of course, the original CD's are long stored away and hard to retrieve.
I'm wondering if anyone has any ideas on how to identify songs that might have skips from bad CD rips short of listening to everything after it is ripped. Perhaps some algorhythm that takes into account file size, original estimated length and bitrate could be used to identify mp3's that might have problems. Or maybe MC could monitor for something during rips...not sure what.
I would appreciate any ideas anyone has.

Activate secure ripping and logging in Advanced Ripping Options. It will notify you if the CD has unrecoverable errors.
I don't think it's possible to check your old files with software tools. You just have to listen to them.

Alex,
Thanks. I'll check those settings...
but I still need a way to deal with already ripped mp3s, if you can think of anything.
Thanks again.
