This is driving me nuts now.
I've been updating MC beta after beta (more than 300 times now) but now I really can't get it installed on my XP-machine at home. At my office and on my other home-p.c.: no problem.
The error-message I get is:
Failed to download from http://www.musicex.com/cgi-bin-redirects/MC/v11/redirect.pl?type=WMFInstaller95&prodname=Media Center versio=11.0.205 Server returned: 0 Can not continue with Media Center installation.
I know that that questionmark actually should be a slash, but it's really what's been stated on my screen.
I've had this with version 220 or so, and 225 and now with 228 too. So I guess it's something on my p.c. that's wrong.
So I uninstalled MC completely, even searched my whole registry for entries from "JRiver" and "Media center" but then.... still the same problem.
Now I'm really at a loss, 'cause this is my major 'working on MC'-computer.
Don't tell me I've to rebuild my whole p.c. to get MC installed again.
Please give me a clue!

Virus?
What version of Windows?
Did you try the latest build. We found and fixed a problem for some PC's.
-
No viruses found by the latest version of my virus-scanner
No spyware found either.
Windows XP version 1.
Version 228 didn't work - I'll download 232 right now.
Get back to you later.

Say Jim, that does look like the source of my problem.
Problem is that I do not want to use internet on that machine. Furthermore, my other home-p.c. even hasn't got the possibility to get on the net and on that machine installation goes just fine.
So, couldn't you just put that WM-thing into the builds?
Especially because the download of that thing takes some 20 minutes before the installation can continue. Is that just a one time thing or will this happen every new build?
-
It's a one-time thing. It saves about 4MB not putting it in the build, and there are two different WM packages required, so we'd have to have two builds.
-
Okay.
Funny though that my other home p.c. doesn't ask for such an upgrade.
And would it be possible to help 'non-internetters' like me to make downloads available like this WM-thing so you can bring that home too. So one won't need to be connected to the internet to install MC? If you understand what I mean

Actually, Jim has already posted the WMF download links in the thread marko pointed you to: http://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php?topic=26428.msg183165#msg183165.
You could also download the latest WMP10 installer package from MS site:

This recent thread may help Windows Server 2003 SP1 users: http://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php?topic=26821.0
Perhaps we beta users are supposed to follow this forum 24/7, but JRiver could include the offline installation instructions and WMF links on the official MC11 download page when it is published.

Thanks, Alex, for pointing that out. I downloaded it - better safe than sorry.
And I agree on your suggestion about offline installation downloads. Hope JRiver will do so
