Title: cassette to hard drive?

I have several excellent cassette tapes that i am trying to transfer to my hard drive.  right now, i mean like, as i speak, i have the cassette player connected from the headphone jack to the mic jack on the computer, and I cant figure out how to get the media player to recognize the source.  do i need another type of cable?  is there another way to connect from the cassette deck to the computer?  Please help!! Thanks.
