How does the two iPods on one system configuration work? I know it was added on one of the recent builds, but I was using iTunes again, and can't remember how to set it up.
Thanks,
Ben

From build 242
4. Changed: MC will handle individualization of multiple iPods. In order to do this, reset your devices and say 'No' to detection of iPod as a device. Then use the 'Configure remote and fixed drives' option to assign a name to each iPod. This name will save the individual settings for each iPod.
You could search SteveG's posts from around that date. There may be more.

The directions on how to do this are not clear, as you have to fill in at least three or four fields when you do this.
Can you please elaborate,
I have a mini and a 3G and I'd like to be able to do this instead of having to resynch separately for each player.

That's what I was looking for Jim, works like a charm.
Thanks,
Ben

You do not have to fill in more fields other than to provide a 'Name' for the created path. That field is required. You do not have to do this at all unless you have more than one iPod and want settings customized for each.

Steve!! I think you've done it!! I've been messing around with both iPods all day, changing ratings, adding playlists, and synching the whole time. So far, no problems. Praise be to everyone, especially you.
Sweet.

ben,
Thanks for the update. Glad all is well.

(Maybe) you'll never have to read my whiney text again.

Steve,
You mentioned that you had to give a name to the created path.
Which path do you use for each Ipod? Do they need to be different. And is this the playlist you are synching too?
-
The path should reflect the drive letter that the iPod has taken on. For instance, my two iPods use K: and G: respectively. So you'd use K:\ as the path for one of the iPods and G:\ as a path for the other one. They need to be different.
MC will retain the playlist settings for each iPod separately, just like iTunes.
That's it.

Thanks Ben.
You can name them whatever you want, they just have to be unique.

Well this is the only thread I can find on configuring 2 ipods on MC, and I'm having a few problems. I've tried resetting my Ipods, but it still autodetects them so I can't do the configure remote and fixed drives bit.
If anyone can help or point me at an existing thread with a solution, it would be much appreciated.

If you're using 11.1 - just plug them in and select 'Ok' to let MC recognize them. Then in order to tell them apart in the tree you can rename them (F2).
