Title: Media Center 10.0.173 Loses it's license
Post by: Bill Finkelstein on April 25, 2005, 03:50:02 pm
Greetings!

Every few weeks my licensed copy of Media Center forgets that it's licensed and gives me the "You 30 day trial is over" dialog - Forcing me to use one of my install key.  I'm down to 5 left  ?

I haven't reloaded anything... installed any strange patches or anything else that I can think of to confuse the software.

How can I stop this from happening before I run out of tickets?

Regards,
Bill

Are you changing your machine name?

Yes, I had to as I'm on a sailboat and needed to change my computer name to use the local WiFi connection here in the Marina we're in for the week in Mexico.

Tough life!  Sounds like fun.

Your restores get re-added 12 months after they're used, so it may not be a problem.  Let us know if you run out.

BTW, you shouldn't need to change the machine name to access a wireless LAN.

I take it then that if you change your computer name, you need to refresh the license...  I guess I'll have to stop renaming the computers  ::)

FYI - you can take a look at what we're up to on our sail boat Raptor Dance at http://raptordance.com
