Title: Is Ctrl F Broken or has the shortcut changed?
Post by: lise on May 01, 2005, 08:14:06 am
Ctrl+F doesn't search the entire library, but only searches within the current media mode.
Has the shortcut changed or is it broken?
I need to know for the help file.

By design it searches the current media mode.

By default, MC resets to the all media mode each launch.

Thanks Matt, but I'm still not clear on this.
I thought typing something in the search field automatically only searched the selected Media Mode.
I thought Ctrl F was a way to search then entire database, regardless of the mode we are in.
If it no longer works that way, is there any way to search the entire database? (I hope so, because I use that all the time!)

Ctrl+F is a shortcut to get to the search box at the root of the library.

If you want to use MC in mixed-media mode, simply leave the media mode set to "All."

How it used to work in v10.
If I selected Images media mode, and I did Ctrl F and searched for Bob Dylan, it would return his music (as well as images, I guess).

Now if I am in images and I do Ctrl F and search for Bob Dylan, I get no hits.
In other words, it doesn't search the music, but only Images.

Are you saying this is how it is supposed to work?
If it is, then there is no difference between typing something in the search box and doing Ctrl F.

Which is why I thought it was broken.
