Title: Any iPod Shuffle updates?
Post by: punkbot on May 02, 2005, 08:34:43 pm
Just wondering if the Shuffle is going to get support in the MC 11 final?

Thanks in advance.

Probably not immediately, but it can be added in after the release as the iPod code is in a plugin.

I am not sure how many other MC users there are that are currently using the Shuffle but I do hope that the plug-in can be created sooner rather than later.  When I first bought the Shuffle I thought that it was going to be something that I only used occasionally with my regular IPOD still being my primary player.  What I have found, though, is that I have started to use the Shuffle almost exclusively and am having to manage my library (playlists, ratings, etc)  in both iTunes and Media Center.  As a temporary solution this has been ok (kind of a pain - - but worth it to retain all of the MC features that I love) but as a long term solution I am not sure how it is going to work out.  Just my two cents.  Like I said, I am not sure how many other MC users  have “Shuffle support” as their main priority.  Thanks for listening….

OK thanks Steve.  Personally, my issue isn't necessarily using iTunes, but nearly my entire library is OGG, having MC transcode to vbr mp3 on the fly is what I really need.  Please keep us posted.

punkbot...  One thing that I have tried while I am waiting for Media Center to support the Shuffle is to use Anapod Explorer to transfer the files to the Shuffle.  I just export all of my Media Center playlists to a folder on my pc and Anapod lets you copy the playlists to the Shuffle.  When it does this, I believe that you can convert from ogg to mp3 on the fly.  It is not perfect, but for me it is more convenient than using iTunes.

I know this should probably be over in the other forum, but I figured I'd weigh in and say that I have a shuffle and would love for support.
