I cannot upgrade to the newest build.
When I first tried to install the newest build, the installer hanged. Killed process, tried again, same result.
Then I deleted most of the MC11 program dir, tried again.
It says now "cleaning installation dir" and hangs.
I tried rebooting and proper uninstalling (system panel - install/uninstall software). Tried installer, same message as before and still hangs!!
Now I'm totally stuck. What can I do now?? :-\

Does the machine have an Internet connection?
If not, please check the FAQ here on WM10 installation. Not WMP10.
Did you leave it in the "hung" state for a while? 30 minutes?
-
Thanks for your quick reply.
Yes, the machine has an internet connection.
I didn't let the installer in its state longer than about 5 mins yet because i didn't expect any improvement.
Additional info: there is still the file MJShellExt.dll in the program dir, and I cannot delete it (probably because it is used by Explorer). Does that make any difference? Apart from that, only the "Data" dir is still there. I deleted everything else.

Some more Info:
I have WinXP SP2. I've used MC9/10/11 in the past, never had install problems.
I read some of the FAQs now.
I've rebooted again, switched off firewall, WinPatrol, antivir program. Install still hangs, even after 15 min or so. Still says "cleaning up installation dir"...

Holy cow, after repeated attempts i finally let it hang for about 30 mins. And voilą, it woke up and finished the installation after all... :-\ :)

you prob have "get cover art" selected
If so mc will seemingly hang, MC does not tell you what it is doing at all.
I think this should be called a bug, if MC told you what it was doing, and gave you an option to stop it would be better.
I just normaly will terminate MC thru the "task manager" if i forget that the "Get cover art" is checked when importing.
