I have an album by a band called 'I Am Kloot' and for some reason it is listed under A instead of I. My friend has the same album and the same 60GB photo but he synched using iTunes and it's listed correctly under I. Is this a setting somewhere in MC that I missed or is MC trying to do something clever.
-
There is not setting regarding this. Can you email me a file from that album and I will see if I can replicate it?

On it's way.

Edit - No it isn't. A single track is 16MB so probably a little big for email. Before I email could you try and replicate it by making a copy of another MP3 and changing the tags as follows:
Filename: 01 - No Direction Home - I Am Kloot.mp3
Name: No Direction Home
Track #: 01
Artist: I Am Kloot
Album: Gods And Monsters

I've also noticed that for a while now, De La Soul ends up under the "L's" and not D on my iPod. I understand why it's doing that, but is there anyway to override it?
-
I can replicate this, but do not see a way to resolve it quickly. iPod is being clever and dropping 'The' and 'I'. There is probably a way to override it because iTunes does, but I do not see it. I can look more when I have some time.

maybe a stupid idea, but can you just add 'the' or 'i' to all artists that start with them? iPod can drop the ones you add, leaving the originals in place, so sorting still works.
Does that make sense?

The iPod does not actually remove the article - it just ignores it while sorting. Hence, a listing like this:
Mondo Grosso
The Monkees
Monolake
I Monster
It is built-in to the iPod firmware. Maybe iTunes sends some kind of flag to override this sorting. I think it changes according to the iPod's language setting.
On another note, the weird sort order on Albums seems to be almost fixed. Maybe it had something to do with long filenames. I will check and post separately.

No, it doesn't change with the language setting, which is a bit disconcerting sometimes. That is why "De La Soul" ends up under S -- De and La are articles in other languages.

That's funny, because it ends up under L for me.

Yeah, well maybe it only picks up the first article (that seems more logical), I was just doing it off the top of my head, not actually looking at my iPod (that'll teach me)!
