Title: MC 11 client for PocketPC
Post by: jantypas on May 12, 2005, 10:33:34 am
I know it sounds odd, but with MC 11 now supporting UPnP to some degree, what about a lightweight client for the PPC?  It wouldn't be as fancy, but a minimal MC or UPnP PPC client would allow me to use my Axim X50 with WiFI at work or at home as a portable media device.

I have an idea that half of the logic is there in the developer libraries to get files etc, but I still need an interface into the library or PNP logic.

Ideas?

There is at least one PocketPPC UPnP client that I know of: Nero ShowTime Mobile.

Having said that, I couldn't actually get it to work - it can see the library, but I couldn't get it to actually play anything.

That's not MC's fault though - I can't get it to work with Nero's own UPnP server either!

I know, I tried it as well, but it was beta.

I second this. Not just for UPnP but for Library Server as well.

Please, please!  :-*

how about using Microsoft RDP on the PDA (set to bring sound to remote computer) and set up a zone to play using the RDP Client output?

Works using XP RDP I'll try it using PPC RDP and let you know

Although, annoyingly, you can't actually *buy* Nevo - it's only available preinstalled on specific devices...
