My laptop has a built in IR port... an "SMC-irCC Fast Infrared Port" to be exact. I've got a bunch of remotes, including one for my USB Sound Blaster Audigy 2NX and I've got a Pronto too, so I can shoot pretty much any code under the sun at it. Is there any software-only solution to get remote control over MC 11 given this configuration?
Thanks,
Jeff

You might try Girder to see if there's a plugin for your IR input device. MC supports Girder plugins. What's the range on that IR receiver? It might need close proximity to work. It also may not work in the same frequency range as your IR senders.

i think MC has to support more remotes rather than paying for girder :(

If the port is a standard irDa port (like most laptops are I believe), I don't think Girder will support it.
irDa ports were not not designed to receive the infra-red wavelengths transmitted by remote controls. They were designed for transferring files PC <-> PC or PC -> Printer...
You would be best buying a usbuirt or something along those lines...
