Title: CD ripping problem
Post by: fmsfmsfms on May 12, 2005, 05:50:40 pm
whenever the program begins to rip from a cd I get a message.  Media Core will shut down the program....and then the program closes.

If I burn a cd the program is shut down by some fault in media core.  I have run virus software and cleaned up my system thoroughly and still this problem persists making the program useless. Is this a problem associated with xp service pack 2?

I'm also using Mozilla if that makes any difference.  I have uninstalled and reinstalled the program. When I do that the program works for a while and then the problem comes back.  All my virus/pop-up/adaware programs say that my system is clean.

Has the drive ever worked with MC?

Try ripping to another format.  WAV or APE, for example.

SP2 is OK.  Norton probably is OK.  But uninstall spybot, reboot, then norton, then reboot, to see.

I amagine you have Windows Media 10 installed.... That is mostlikely the problem... MC does not work with WMP10

Either Try MC11 or uninstall WMP10 and reinstall wmp9

Just a heads up that  MC 11 should work fine with WMP 10.

MC 10 will as well save for a WMA encoding issue created by Microsoft.

FYI:

I use spybot, and norton 2005 with no problems

there may be other issues, however.
