Title: Video files don't open a display box
Post by: milknkukis on May 16, 2005, 05:50:50 pm
I guessing nobody else has this problem? If i double click on a video file (any format) in windows explorer the file plays, but without the display box, i have to got to View- Full screen or View-Windowed etc each time.
As i haven't seen thisa mentioned anywhere else, it must just be me having this problem. Can someone tell me how to re-install MC while losing as few settings as possible? I keep updating to the latest beta, but it doesn't fix the problem, i figure a proper uninstall is required. I don't really want to lose my zones settings and everything else.
cheers

Check: Options > General > Jump on Play

We can reproduce this.  Hopefully it's a quick change.

Cool, thanks for getting back to me.
Something else which might be related is if you download a video file with IE while MC is closed, then press "Open" when the download is finished, MC is loaded but the file doesn't play. I haven't had time to check yet if this is just one of my machines or all three.

After looking closer, Media Center won't jump to Windowed or Full Screen if you're in a Playing Now view.  This is by design since you should be able to see the movie in Playing Now.

So if your startup view is set to Playing Now, MC won't jump to a different view.  It should still show the movie though inside of Playing Now.

Is this the issue you're seeing, or is there something else?
