Title: Media Center 11.0.272 Release Candidate
Post by: pank2002 on May 19, 2005, 05:07:40 pm
11.0.272 (5/19/05)
4. NEW: Reworked how builds are stored and packaged to reduce download by about 2.5 MB (without removing anything).
7. Changed: Renamed launcher / mjextman to MC11.exe.

Nice  :) Thanks a lot!

Sorry for not really adding anything useful to this thread  :)

Installer added mc11.exe as expected but also kept the old "Media Center 11 Launcher.exe".

Just erase this by hand if you installed one of the last 2 or 3 builds.  Sorry for any hassle.

Sigh...

I just re-did all my scripts yesterday.  Alas, such is life.

This build looks great to me.   :)

Using "Add to Playing Now" to send an Internet Radio stream playlist to Playing Now causes the Name of the last file above this playlist to show the dynamic naming of the internet stream in place of it's proper Name tag.

I've seen this too. I reported it a long time ago in build 11.0.146
http://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php?topic=24967.msg173752#msg173752
It's number 4 in the list.

Is there any other approach to remedying the multimedia keyboards issues other than increasing anti-repeat time?  The difference between build 270 and build 272 is pretty dramatic.  At this point, the functionality is diminished, as you can no longer seek ahead multiple tracks with any fluidity.  You must press...wait...press...wait....press...wait.

If you clear a Library, MC clears it

then warns you there is a import already running

then a import box pops up (so you can select a import path)

When I attach my ipod I get "Cannot create encoder plug-in 'MP3 Encoder'. Error 8007007E.

I tried going to the handheld screen to reset the handhelds and I get the same error.

I just upgraded my Library Server machine and my client machine to 272 and I've found a problem. When I try to play a file on the client, from the server, a popup says:

Cannot create encoder plug-in 'MP3 Encoder'. Error 8007007E

When I click Ok MC dies. The first time it displayed a window saying it had to shut down. The second time I tried it just died immediately after I clicked Ok.

I investigated further by trying to play my files directly on the Library Server machine and the same problem occurred. The strangest part is that none of my files are MP3, they're all WMA.

So, right now I can't play anything. I'll investigate more and maybe downgrade and edit this post later.

I've managed to get around the MP3 problem by uninstalling the encoder (Tools -> Plug-in Manager -> Encoder). After this I could play my files fine.  :)

Obviously, if you're using the encoder a lot then you're stuck.  :(

I just found an interesting and subtle bug...

I was trying to create a smartlist of all my music that have cover art that are not saved internally in the file. I first tried   [Image File]=[Inside File]   but this didn't work. As I was backspacing, however, I noticed that   [Image File]=[In"   did work. As it turns out the correct search in   [Image File]=[Internal]    but when it is displayed MC converts "Internal" to "Inside File". So, I think this just needs to be documented somewhere (perhaps it is and I just missed it  :o).

Thanks.

right clicking on the display area while a media file is playing takes a long time to open the context menu and sometimes MC kills it after it openes.

I have been trying to get my library all put back together after being away from the actual files for a while.  I imported lots of new pictures, and in the import it deleted many bad links and imported the correct files.

I have been messing around with it for a while now, and the problem I've noticed is that many of my image files and video files too have cover art attached to them?  I have no idea how to recreate this other than the import process.  Hope that points to the culprit.

I have been able to remove the cover art from the files, but it was a very tedious process to figure out how to clean it all up, and I'm not sure it's all fixed yet.

Only a few of my .asf files play.

The others show in playing now as if they are about to play, but never do.

- When I upload to my iPod most of the songs are reduced to a lenght of 1 second;
- MC crashes under heavy loads, making an MP3 CD simultaneously with uploading music causes a crash;
- At unexpected moments MC just crashes without any messages.

I'd like to try to reproduce the crash under heavy load. Could you describe what you mean by uploading music so I can try the same thing here?
Thanks.

When I try to rip/encode to mp3 I get the "Cannot create encoder plug-in 'MP3 Encoder'. Error 8007007E" that others have been getting under other situations.

This might just be the way it is, but when I went to burn a CD from MC11, the action window BURN CD OR DVD was not sized large enough so that I could see the NEXT> button.  This happens if MC is not full screen and you send some files to the CD burner.  Was very confusing until I maximized the window and then could see the NEXT> button.

John,

If you select about 100 files to burn on a non-audio CD, MP3 encoded. And simultaneously upload music to an iPod or IHP-140 it's almost a guranteed crash. It takes a very long time for the system to encode the MP3's and uploading/converting also takes up CPU time. Don't see any reason why I can't do them simultaneously.

When I do that it's more then a 50% chance of crashing (AMD3800 CPU & 2GB RAM). I even got an out of memory once (no crash). Funny If I just very recently upgraded from 1 to 2 GB RAM.

Marsies,
If you're seeing frequent crashes, there could be other problems.  Please take a look at some of the problems (and solutions) collected in this thread:

Feel free to start a new thread if you'd like help.

This could very well be the same mp3 encoding problem that infected this build. Please try again with today's build which should fix that problem.
