Still Freezes When Trying To Convert Formats
Last Message Is "Saving Tags" On The Status Line...
Do you mean it freezes forever, or just for a while?

Do you mean it freezes forever, or just for a while?
Forever
Normaly A Small Box Pops Up stating saving tags, it then goes away after a few seconds, but every once in a while the box pops up and stays there.
sometimes this box pops up in back of Media Center
i let it set for 12 hours (overnight) once and media center was not responding.
this was only during convert mp3
it seems someone else maybe having the same problem (it was posted in the forum).
-
well that did not help, i see now that the pop-up notify window saving tags is up, but also this time media center also crashed...
I will try again...

It May Have Something To Do With Mp3 File Size Since The Files I Have Been Working With Are About 50 to 193 Megs...
This Time I Re-Booted Again And Selected 100 Files That Are Small (3 to 4 megs).
It seems to be working fine with the smaller files.
Update: All 100 Mp3's Converted Fine.
-
I selected 5 Large Files Over 100 Megs, On The 3rd Large File Media Center Locked Up "Saving Tag Changes" On The Pop Up Box And In The MC Status Window.
-
Possibly related issue:
MC consistently fails in doing wholesale format conversions from .shn to wma (lossless). File sizes typically 30-80 mb each, the program will successfuly convert a few dozen and then crash out completely, the error box saying "program has generated errors and will be closed by windows."
I found this in MC10 also, and when I changed to converting to flac, the problem went away.
-
I Went Back To Converting Smaller Mp3's Again
All Is Working Fine Again....
By The Way, The Only Reason For Converting The MP3's Is, The MP3s Are Voice Only Files And Would Not Suffer With Downgrading The BitRate.
-
Update
After selecting the Last 100 files, media center stopped locked up at file 93
file 93 is 5 megs in size.
-
Starting At The 93rd File At 5 Megs It Only Re-Encoded 15 Files And Then Locked Up MC The Last File Was 5.9 Megs
Looks Like It Is Getting Worse...

Well Of Course, And Hit Him With A Few Boots Too
He claims that conversion works OK for him.
-
I Un-Installed Auto Import, And That Did Work In The Background
Well See If That Was It....
However If It Is The Import Is Controled By The SDK and i would figure that MC would have control over that. (Maybe Maybe Not)
If this is the case the newly created file may be open and when MC goes to save tags it maybe getting stuck.
I will go back and batch them all and see what happens....
Jim I tried to convert my brother to use media center, I think he prefers to go claming, fishing and catching crabs.
-
Nope, With All 3rd Party Plug-ins Removed It Still Freezes...
-
Can you try converting to another format (to see if it's the encoder that is causing the problem)?
-
I will try later when i get home...
i sent swellguy some encoder config settings....
-
King,
We were finally able to reproduce this and, subsequently, fix it. Give it hell in the next release and let us know if there's still a problem.
