Ripping:
When starting to rip, the screen changes to the "Rip Screen" (for lack of a better term), This is re drawn line by line and is VERY slow. It freezes the computer for 40 to 60 seconds, During this time the rip status bar doesn't move. Once the screen is fully re drawn the rip bar will fly up to were the rip status should be.
This was not like this about a month ago??

I have tried re installing and installing and it doesn't change anything,
My computer at work does NOT have this problem, So it is not a MC problem...
Does anyone have any ideas?
Thanks,
-
Is the behavior the same no matter how you start the rip? Do you see a long delay in just viewing the files on the CD?
-
No, it's as soon as It starts to rip/burn,
It seems like it just has a hard time getting to the screen that shows the status.
I'll try a different CD drive when I get home. I can't see it being the hardware as it has no problems with 2 other players.

Do you happen to be ripping to a Network drive? I had a similar problem a while back, but now because of how I rearranged my systems, I'm ripping to local drives usually and I no longer do.

No, I tried ripping to my internal and a external, Same results.

Oh well ... It was worth a shot! ::)

Please try the next build, hopefully it will work better for you.
-
Will do and thanks.....
I noticed that Mediac.exe goes to and stays at 100% system ressources when the ripping is happening. I wonder if that has anything to do with it?
I'll try the next build, I am fully uninstalling MC and will go from there.
THanks,

Hi John, Thanks for the effort, but this did not help.
I have no doubt that this is something that is on My Computer and no MC.
I'm probably going to have to blow away my HD and reinstall things.... But that won't be for a while, I'm in the middle of a ton of video editing... :)
I'm still open to suggestions if anybody has a idea as to what is causing this....
Thanks,
IJAG

When I uninstalled it, it gave me 2 choices. 1 for upgrading and the other to remove all, I selected that one, and used Norton Windoctor to clean the registry.
When I installed MC again, It was still registered and my plugins were still installed....
Odd.

Are you using secure mode for ripping? If so, try normal and see if it makes a difference. Try ripping to uncompressed wave format also.
Check that your cd drive is running in DMA mode rather than PIO. Is the cabling to the various drives correct?

Tried that and still the same,
My drive was on DMA.
I tried Uninstalling again and reinstalling... I don't think it's uninstalling propperly... All my settings are kept, and it remains registered. Maybe a corrupt something that is messing the system up?

F I X E D
I went through and started to uninstall some things and screwed around with the registry....
Here's my take on it...
Something inside MC got corrupt...
Could not uninstall MC propperly because I haev GoBack installed ?? This keeps all the files you remove on your computer and may have screwed some things up.
So I uninstalled GoBack and cleaned the registry
Then I reinstalled MC, But this time I had to re register the program, so I know that the uninstall worked this time!!
Put a cd in, and hit rip, crossed my fingures and everything was blazing fast!!!
Thanks to all who helped!!!
However, I still have a minor gripe...
When ripping...
Put a CD in
In the AW select Rip,
A new screen shows up and the buttons at the top says Play... There is no rip button.
Thern you have to hit rip in the AW again... THis seems a little odd to me.... Maybe this should be ironed out so the program looks more polished...
Thanks
