Title: MC11: iPod and MP3

I am (still) thinking off buying an iPod to sync it with MC11.
I only have song with the mp3 file format.
Does the iPod play these?
If not, can I convert during sync? And to what?

iPod will play mp3 with no problem.

Thanks! Nice to be sure.

I know playlists are transferred also to the iPod.
Does the iPod only play these transferred lists or am I able to play everything of a certain year or genre or artist?

I could not find exact answers on the apple site.

Genre comes over to the iPod automatically (automatically you get Artist, Album, Genre, Composer). However, for certain years/decades, etc. you have to create a smartlist and then transfer that to the iPod.
