I'm looking for a way to modify the smartlist “Task – possible duplicates” in a way that allows me to show files as duplicates, even if they have different string in brackets.
I have e.g. one Song called “Love song (Radio Version)” and another called “Love Song (Single Version)”. I want them to be shown as duplicates, but I don’t know how to do so. Someone else does?
Thanks for any help!

I don't think you can do that.

:( I was afraid this would be the answer. Thanks anyway!

My songs names are split into 3 parts...
[Name] = the Bae name of the song
[Name (Version)] = different versions of the song
[Live] = checked if the song is a live recording
Example:
if a song is titled...
Love song [Radio Version] [Live]
[Name] = Love Song
[Name (Version)] = Radio version
[Live] = Live
I use the following calculated field to make it easier to read...
[Name] [[Name (Version)]] [[Live]]
This makes doing what u want to do easier

If you want similarly-named songs to be shown as duplicates, why don't you give them duplicate names? I found a lot of songs from Napster had "(Album Version)'" or "(Single Version)" appended to the name when they were in fact duplicates. So I went to "library tools/find and replace" and selected all elegible songs (in my case they were all .wma), entered "(Album Version)" in find what, and left replace blank. This removed all the appended strings.
After that, you will have the duplicate names you're looking for.
BTW--when I did a smartlist for duplicates I added "duration" to the duplicates field, in addition to artist and name. I didn't want to delete live or extended versions that were named the same.

You not going to plug your MD5 Master plug in King?
That can find those duplicates for you. Do a search in the 3rd party forum to see how it works.
