Hi All,
Further to the subject, I've been trying to install the DFX Plugin on Win XP. I am able to download the file, but the only thing that downloads is a "HIT" icon that looks like a notepad. When I open that up, it just contains a bunch of text.
How can I get this to install into my MJ 8. ? program ?
Thanks,
Quarterwave

Are you sure you downloaded 1.) the right version, and 2.) from this (http://www.fxsound.com/dfx/pages/download/latest/jriver.php?vendor=14&subvendor=0&plus=0) web page?
From that page, the download you get will be entitled "dfxInstall-JRiver.exe," and it should be about 1.29 MB long.
(NOTE: I haven't used MJ8 in eons, so I can't verify for you if the "newer" v.7 DFX even works with it, but I imagine it should.)

Thx fr replying Omni. Yep, I downloaded it from this site. Once the file downloads, what it says when I click on the desktop icon is :
(Oh, this is in Notepad BTW....)
Package]
Name=DFX
Action=UNZIPDIR
Version=6.1.15
URL=http://www.mediajukebox.com/mj_data/plugins/dsp_dfx.zip
[Action]
File1=dsp_dfx.dll
File1Action1=COPY_PLUGINDIR
File1Action2=REG_WA_DSP
File2=install.exe
File2Action1=RUN
File3=*
File3Action1=REGISTRY HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE|SOFTWARE\JRiver\Music Exchange\1.0\Media Jukebox\Plugins\Dsp|ActivePlugin|DFX
Any ideas ?

Oh, yeah, now that you posted it, I remember that stuff now.
If I remember correctly, that should be a .mjp file, and if your MJ8 is properly installed, that file type should be associated with MJ8.
Rename the extension to .mjp if it's not already--strange that it wouldn't be, but you did mention something about it being a "HIT" file, whatever that is--and then just double-click on it to have it auto-install.
P.S. I'm assuming your "Package]" was just a typo as it should be "[Package]" (note the opening bracket).

Hey Guys,
I'm lost. I'm really trying to interpret all the things you are saying but after everything I've tried, there's no difference, and the plug in will still not install - I'm sure that I'm doing something wrong. Can anyone here explain to me line by line what I need to do - I'm computer literate enough to get myself into trouble, but when it comes to fixing problems, my knowledge and software to fix the problems are limited.
Thanks.
