Title: system not responding
Post by: soothsayer on May 27, 2005, 08:54:00 pm
If I just open Media Center 11 and then try to open Microsoft Word, the computer locks up and the dialog box reads "not responding" on both programs. I just opened the two without any files chosen in MC and no text in Word. I was going to save an Artist/Album list when it happened.  Media Center 11 sometimes while playing songs randomly will not respond and just keeps playing. Here's the system info?

Similar behavior--After installing 279, I start performing a rip. The performance eventually slows down toward the end of the CD, at which point Media Center (but not the computer) locks up hard. Media Center process cannot be killed, even through Task Manager (eventually need to power cycle PC). Complete uninstall and reinstall of Media Center does not correct it. Will try rolling back to an older version. Any other ideas?

Try searching for similar problems.  Here's an example:
